초등학교 특수학급 교사들의 교직경험과 대처방식에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 초등학교 특수학급 교사들이 초등학교에서 소수자로서, 장애학생을 가르치는 교사로서, 학교 안팎에서 겪는 경험과 대처방식을 심층적으로 탐색하는 것이다. 현상학적 연구 방법을 활용하여 초등학교 특수학급 교사 9명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였고, Colaizzi(1978)의 6단계에 따라 수집된 자료를 분석 및 해석하여 결과를 도출하였다. 삼각검증법, 참여자 확인법, 동료검토법을 활용하여 연구의 진실성과 타당도를 검증하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 특수학급 교사들은 ‘특수교사에 대한 불평등한 사회적 인식’, ‘장애학생 교육에서의 애로사항’, ‘특수교육과 일반교육의 이원적 구조 속 고립감’, ‘학교 구성원과의 관계에서의 어려움’을 경험하고 있었다. 둘째, 이들은 교직경험에 ‘어려움 속 만족감 찾기’, ‘인적 네트워크 구축하기’, ‘적극적으로 대처하기’, ‘소극적으로 대처하기’, ‘정체성 확립하기’의 방식을 통해 대처하고, 주류 문화에 적응하고 있었다. 연구 결과를 토대로 초등학교 특수학급 교사들의 교직사회 적응을 돕고, 통합교육의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore experiences and coping strategies of special education teachers in elementary schools. This study followed phenomenological qualitative study to understand experiences and coping strategies of special education teachers in elementary schools. Data were collected through interviews with nine special education teachers in elementary schools and collected data were analyzed and interpreted based on qualitative method; Colaizzi(1978)’s phenomenological method of step six. Findings were as follows: first, special education teachers in elementary schools were experiencing ‘unequal social perception of special education teachers , ‘difficulties in education for students with disabilities , ‘isolatedness in the dual structure of special education and general education and ‘difficulties in relationship with school members’. Second, they coped with difficulties using the strategy of ‘finding satisfaction in difficulty’, ‘building a human network , ‘active coping strategy , ‘passive coping strategy , and ‘establishing identity . Based on the results of this study, plans to help special education teachers in elementary schools and to improve the quality of inclusive education were discussed.
