자아형성의 관점에서 본 리쾨르의 서사해석학

국문 초록

리쾨르는 인간의 인식과 존재가 공유하는 특징으로서의 서사성에 주목하고, 그것을 자기이해의 문제를 해명하는 단서로 삼는다. 리쾨르가 이 문제를 해명하는 면에서 거둔 이론적 성과는 도덕적 지식을 통한 심성의 함양이라는 도덕교육의 근본성격을 해명하는 데에 빛을 던져 준다. 이 글은 리쾨르의 서사해석학에 비추어 도덕교육의 서사적 성격을 심도 있게 설명함으로써, 도덕교육의 목적은 자기이해에 있다는 것 그리고 자기이해의 의미와 가치는 도덕교육의 실천에 의하여 확립된다는 것을 밝히는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 리쾨르의 서사해석학은, 자기이해의 과정은 도덕과 교육의 실천과정, 즉 교과를 통한 심성함양의 과정과 다르지 않으며, 겸허하고 넓은 마음을 지닌 깨달은 자아의 모습은 교과를 공부한 사람이 지닐 수 있는 심성의 이상태와 다르지 않다는 것을 일깨워준다. 이 점에서 서사해석학은 텍스트와 서사행위의 의미와 가치를 밝히는 과정에서 심성의 형성과정과 심성이 표현된 상태를 동시에 설명할 수 있는 도덕교육이론으로 해석될 가능성을 가진다.

영문 초록

Paul Ricoeur suggested the idea of self-understanding as the end of hermeneutical understandings. According to him, the process of self-becoming can not be separated with that of the text-understanding. Ricoeur’s narrative hermeneutics can throw light on understanding of Moral Education as a school subject which is designed for leading students to self-becoming through the text-understanding. In light of narrative hermeneutics, Moral Education as a school subject can be justified as the method of cultivating self by the ‘narrative function’, in which teachers and students participate in the whispering. Narrative hermeneutics suggests that teachers and students should enable to enjoy the freedom of interpretation beyond the intention of the superficial meaning of text. Fictional and historical narrative, its vivid whispering narrative between teachers and students make possible ‘variations of imagination’ and ‘semantic innovations’. In order to cultivate the generous and modest attitude to the world in student’ mind, teacher should rehearse the text as her/his own narrative with his whole body from top to toe. Those implications of Ricoeur’s narrative hermeneutics for moral education can be summed up as follows: (1) Moral education should be aimed at self-understanding. (2) Self-understanding can be attained especially by Moral Education class in which teachers and students experience the narrated time, ‘variations of imagination’ and ‘semantic innovations’.
