국문 초록

본 연구는 Terry 등(2004)의 운동 중독 검사(Exercise Addiction Inventory)와 Downs 등(2004)의 운동 의존 척도(Exercise Dependence Scale-Revised)를 국내 생활체육에 참가하고 있는 일반인들을 대상으로 타당화하기 위해 실시되었다. 이를 위해 원척도들의 문항들을 번안 및 역번안 작업을 거친 후 척도를 구성하였다. 자료 수집은 생활체육을 일주일에 2번 이상씩 규칙적으로 참여하고 있는 일반인들을 대상으로 두 번에 걸쳐 진행하였고, 1차에는 259명(남자 134명, 여자 125명), 2차에는 245명(남자 153명, 여자 92명)의 자료가 모집되었다. 자료를 바탕으로 EAI 및 EDS-R 요인구조의 적절성을 확보하기 위해 탐색적 및 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였고 신뢰도와 타당도를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째 EAI의 경우 원척도와 동일한 6문항 1요인 구조가, EDS-R의 경우도 원척도와 동일한 21문항 7요인 구조가 추출되었고 내적일치도 모두 적절하였다. 둘째, EAI 및 EDS-R은 운동 중독 검사지(EAQ)와 유의미한 정적 상관관계를 보여 준거타당도가 확보되었다. 이러한 결과들은 EAI 및 EDS-R의 각 하위요인이 독립적으로 운동중독을 설명하고 있음을 보여준다. 끝으로 본 연구 결과의 시사점과 제한점을 논하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to validate the Exercise Addiction Inventory (Terry et al., 2004) and Exercise Dependence Scale-Revised (Downs, et al., 2004) for those who participate in sports regularly in Korea. The original scales were translated into Korean and reverse-translated. Participants were 504 adults (287 males, 217 females) who participate in sports at least twice weekly. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to determine the appropriateness of the EAI and EDS-R factor structures, and assess reliability and validity. EAI demonstrated the same 6-item 1-factor structure as the original scale, and EDS-R demonstrated the same 21-item, 7-factor structure as the original scale, both with adequate internal consistency. The EAI and EDS-R showed a significant positive correlation with the Exercise Addiction Test (EAQ) confirming validity. The results indicate that each sub-factor of the EAI and EDS-R independently explains exercise addiction in a Korean sample. Implications and limitations are discussed.
