한국수어의 생산적 수어 어휘에서 나타난 도상성 -이미지 형성 기법을 중심으로-

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국수어 말뭉치 내 생산적 수어 어휘의 기저 이미지에서 나타난 손 모양과 손의 움직임 기능을 분석하여 생산적 수어의 수형별 이미지 형성 기법의 유형, 손의 형태와 역할, 생산적 수어 어휘와 이미지 형성 기법 간의 의미를 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국수어 자료 통합 지원 시스템에 탑재된 11개 135분 분량의 수어 자료에서 나타난 생산적 수어의 수형을 이미지 형성 기법에 근거하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 생산적 수어 어휘는 12개의 수형에서 손대체 기법, 손이용 기법, 스케치 기법, 측정 기법 등 분석에서 사용된 이미지 형성 기법이 모두 나타났다. 4개의 기법이 모두 나타난 수형은 [구형1]과 [육형2]이며, 손대체 기법에서 생산적 수어의 12개 수형이 모두 나타났다. 이미지 형성 기법은 수어 사용자가 기저 이미지를 시각적으로 동기화 하는 방법을 이해할 수 있도록 도와 수어의 음운적, 형태적, 통사적 특징을 함께 이해하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the function of the hand and its movement of productive signs in the Korean Sign Language Corpus by describing the different image-producing techniques (Koenig et al. 2008). We describe the productive signs which are glossed after their handshape and reveal the meaning they express. For this reason we have downloaded eleven files of signed data (135 minutes) from the Integrative System for Korean Sign Language Resources and analyzed all productive signs and their image-producing techniques. As a result, we found 611 tokens of productive signs, distinguished by 12 handshapes which made use of the substitutive technique, manipulative technique, sketching technique and measuring technique. Of these productive signs there are two handshapes (flathand1) and (Q-handshape2) which make use of all four image-producing techniques. Besides, we found out that the substitutive technique is used by all twelve handshapes of the productive signs. As an example we have looked deeper into the productive signs which are articulated by the unmarked flathand and the meaning they carry. Our findings show that the image-producing techniques will help sign language learners to understand how signers visually synchronize the underlying image of a sign with the signs they use. This will help sign language learners to understand the phonological, morphological and syntactical features of sign language.
