지적장애학교 특수교육지도사의 역할 수행 시 경험하는 어려움

국문 초록

본 연구는 특수교육지도사가 지적장애학교에서 겪는 어려움이 무엇인지 살펴보고 개선방안을 알아보고자 특수교육지도사 8명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였다. 인터뷰 내용은 분석과정을 거쳐 3개의 대범주로 나누어졌다. 연구결과, 첫째, 개인 욕구 지원 시 어려움은 학생의 각종 행동 문제에 대해 응급 처방식 해결을 하고 있는 상황, 자율성 제한, 성이 다르고 체격이 큰 학생의 용변지도, 편의상 업무 위주로 지원하는 것 같은 심적 갈등이 있었다. 둘째, 교수-학습활동 지원 시 어려움은 학생의 행동 문제와 교육적 처치에 대한 전문성 부족, 역할 지시 부재, 교사별 지도 방법의 상이함, 환경 변화에 따른 학생의 행동변화, 개인적 시간이 없는 근무환경이다, 마지막으로 문제행동 지원 시 어려움은 문제 행동에 관한 전문 지식이 부족하여 사고 상황에 놓이게 되는 정신적․육체적 어려움으로 나타났다. 개선 요구 사항으로는 교사와 지도사, 부모 간 일관성 있는 지도방안, 명확한 업무 지침, 협력적 의사소통을 위한 협의회 구성, 현장중심연수 확대, 부상에 대한 실제적 보장 등이 있었다.

영문 초록

This study interviewed 8 special education Paraprofessionals to find out the specific difficulties that special education paraprofessionals face in intellectual disability schools and to find ways to improve them. Interview contents were divided into 3 big categories. As a result of research, First, There were mental conflicts such like situations of doing first-aid settlements rather than educational interventions in all kinds of students’ behavioral problems in relaction with difficulties in supporting personal demands, making inquires about even small things without autonomy of the teacher in charge, toilet training of students having large builds and different gender, students accompanying with sex-related behavioral problems, and supports by focussing on duties. Second, difficulties in supporting teaching-learning activities include student behavioral problems, lack of expertise in instructional treatment, lack of role instruction, different teaching methods for each teacher, changes in student behavior due to changes in learning environment, and a work environment without personal time. Lastly, the difficulty in supporting problem behaviors was the mental and physical difficulties that led to injuries and accidents due to lack of expertise in problem behaviors. Improvement requirements included consistent guidance among teachers, special education paraprofessionals, and parents, clear work guidelines, councils for collaborative communication, more on-site training, and practical guarantees for injuries.
