교정직 공무원의 심리적 안녕감, 인구통계학적 변인이 직무스트레스에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 수용자 구금확보 및 보안 중심의 법집행에서 교정 교화하여 재범을 방지하는 역할을 부여받아 두 가지가 양립될 수 있도록 의무를 다해야 하는 책임이 있는 교정공무원의 심리적 안녕감이 직무스트레스에 미치는 효과를 확인하고 성별, 연령 등 인구통계학적 변인에 따라 직무스트레스 수준에 차이가 있는지를 확인하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경남소재 J 교도소 교정공무원 100명을 대상으로 심리적 안녕감 척도와 한국인 직무스트레스 척도를 사용하여 자료 수집 하였으며 기술통계, 상관분석, 변량분석을 통해 자료 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 연령은 40대 이상의 60%였고, 80%가 기혼이었으며 79%가 대학교졸업 이상의 학력을 가지고 있었으며 종교는 58%가 무교였다, 그리고 심리적 안녕감은 직무스트레스와 부적 상관을 보이는 것으로 확인되었으며, 특히 직무스트레스의 하위요인 중에 관계갈등과, 직무불안이 심리적 안녕감과 부적 상관이 높았고 직장문화는 부적 상관은 있으나 통계적으로 유의한 수준은 아니었다. 심리적 안녕감의 하위요인 중에 환경지배가 직무스트레스와 부적상관이 가장 높고 자율성은 상관이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 8가지 인구통계학적 변인(성별, 연령, 결혼여부, 학력, 직급, 종교, 근무형태, 근무연수)과 생활습관(운동회수)에 따라 교정공무원이 인지하는 직무스트레스 수준이 차이가 있는 지를 확인하였다. 분석결과 성별에 대하여는 통계적으로 유의미한 집단 간 차이가 확인되었으나 연령 등 다른 변인에서는 의미 있는 집단 간 차이를 확인할 수 없었다. 마지막으로 어려운 여건 속에 근무하는 교정공무원의 심리적 안녕감과 직무스트레스에 대한 연구의 시사점과 개입의 필요성을 언급하고 연구의 한계점과 후속 연구의 과제에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to confirm the effect of the psychological well-being of the correctional officer on job stress and to check whether there was a difference in job stress level due to demographic variables. For this purpose, we collected data using a psychological well-being scale and a Korean job stress scale for 100 correction officers at J prison, and conducted data analysis through technical statistics, correlation analysis, and variance analysis. 60% of the respondents were in their 40s or older, 80% were married, 79% were university graduates, 58% were religionless. The result showed that psychological well-being had statistically significant negative correlations with job stress, especially among the lower factors of job stress, psychological well-being had statistically significant high negative correlation with relationship conflict and job anxiety, and workplace culture was negative, but not statistically significant. Among the sub-factors of psychological well-being, environmental dominance had negative correlation with the highest job stress and had low correlation with autonomy. We also identified whether there were differences in the level of job stress perceived by correctional officers in terms of eight demographic variables (sex, age, marriage, academic background, rank, religion, work style, and work life) and lifestyle (sports frequency). As a result of the analysis, statistically significant differences between groups were confirmed for gender, but meaningful differences between groups were not confirmed in other variables such as age. Finally, I discussed the limitations of research and the challenges of follow-up research, referring to the implications and intervention of the psychological well-being and job stress of the correctional officer working in difficult circumstances.
