내진설계를 주제로 한 STEAM 프로그램이 초등학생들의 창의적 문제해결력 및 STEAM 태도에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 지진에 견딜 수 있는 구조물 제작에 중점을 둔 융합인재교육(STEAM) 프로그램을 개발하여 초등학생들의 창의적 문제해결력, STEAM 태도 및 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 하였다. 개발된 STEAM 프로그램은 J시에 위치한 S초등학교 49명의 4학년 학생에게 적용하였다. STEAM 프로그램을 적용한 결과로써 실험 집단은 창의적 문제해결력 및 STEAM 태도 검사에서 비교 집단보다 유의미하게 향상되었다. STEAM 프로그램에 대한 학습자 만족도는 75.9%로 비교적 높았다. 반면에 학업성취도 검사에서는 실험 집단과 비교 집단 사이에 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 그러므로 내진설계를 주제로 한 STEAM 수업은 학생들의 흥미뿐만 아니라, 창의적 문제해결력과 STEAM 태도 향상에 기여하였다. 앞으로 계속적이고 체계적인 지진에 대한 STEAM 프로그램들이 개발되어 초등학생들의 인지적, 정의적 영역의 향상에 기여하였으면 한다.

영문 초록

The aims of this study are to develop the STEAM program focused the resistant structures in earthquake and to ascertain its influence on elementary student s academic achievement, creative problem solving abilities and STEAM attitude. The developed STEAM program was applied to forty nine 4th grade students of S elementary school located in J city. As a result of applying the STEAM program, the experimental group of the STEAM program class with the theme of an ‘earthquake-resistant design’ improved significantly in creative problem solving abilities and STEAM attitude than the control group of the theoretical class. The result of learner satisfaction survey of the STEAM program was high of 75.9%. Meanwhile, there was no significant difference in academic achievement between the two groups. Therefore, the STEAM program class with the theme of ‘earthquake-resistant design’ could be meaningful works to encourage students interest as well as their creative problem solving ability and the STEAM attitude. In future, continuous and systematic studies on STEAM programs focused on earthquake are needed for elementary students cognitive and affective developments.
