문화교류 활동과 다문화 인식 변화에 관한 연구

국문 초록

현재 우리 사회는 급속히 다문화 사회로 변화되고 있으며 이러한 다문화 사회에 대한 학생들의 적응 및 이해를 높이기 위해 다양한 정책적 방안과 교육 현장에서 실제적으로 실시될 수 있는 여러 가지 교수-학습 방안이 모색되어지고 있다. 하지만 현재 이루어지고 있는 대부분의 다문화 및 다문화 교육에 대한 연구는 다문화 가족 및 다문화 가정 학생들의 사회 및 학교생활의 적응 및 정착에 대해 초점이 맞추어져 있는데 진정한 다문화 교육이 이루어지기 위해서는 이러한 다문화 가정의 학생들뿐만 아니라 이들과 함께 어우러져 우리 사회를 이루어나갈 일반학생들의 다문화 이해에 대한 여러 가지 교육적 프로그램의 개발 및 연구도 함께 이루어져야 한다. 또한 다문화 사회에 적응하며, 다문화화 되어가는 학생들의 인식적 차원의 연구도 함께 진행되어져야 하는데 본 연구에서는 한국 초등학생들의 다문화 인식도를 살펴봄과 동시에 우리와 비슷하게 다문화화 및 다문화 교육이 이루어지고 있는 일본 小學校 학생들의 다문화 인식 특성을 함께 비교하여 살펴보았다. 양국의 학생들이 체험적 문화교류 활동을 통해 다문화 인식이 어떻게 변해 가는지를 살펴보고자 한국과 일본 초등학교(小學校) 학생 각 40명씩을 선정하여, 교류체험 활동을 실시한 사전 사후 다문화 인식 영역별 변화를 One-way ANOVA(일원변량분석)를 통해 분석해 보았다. 이러한 결과 양국 학생 모두에게 문화교류 활동은 다문화 인식도를 높이는데 큰 효과가 있었음을 알 수 있었고 또한 다문화 인식에 대한 각 영역별 양국 학생들의 변화의 특징을 살펴 볼 수가 있었다. 이러한 연구가 후속되는 다문화 교육 및 국제이해교육등과 관련된 연구들을 진행하는데 실체적 이론을 제공하여 앞으로의 연구에 많은 도움이 될 것으로 생각된다.

영문 초록

Currently, our society has rapidly turned into a multicultural one, and how to boost the understanding of students about multicultural society and their adjustment is considered from diverse angles. And various teaching-learning methods are explored to make it happen. Yet current studies of multiculture and multicultural education have mostly focused on the social and school adjustment and settlement of multicultural families and their children. To actualize genuine and authentic multicultural education, students from ordinary Korean families who make up our country along with students from multicultural families should also be taught to understand multiculture, and multiple educational programs should consequently be prepared. In addition, the awareness of students who are fitting in multicultural society and go through multiculturalization should be studied as well. The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of Korean elementary school students about multiculture and to compare them with Japanese elementary school students in that regard, as Japanese elementary school students were similar to Korean students in terms of multiculturalization and multicultural education. The subjects in this study were 80 elementary school students. Out of them, 40 students were selected from Korean schools, and the other 40 students were selected from Japanese schools. They engaged in hands-on exchange activities, and they took pretest and posttest respectively before and after the activities. One-way ANOVA was utilized to find out what changes they underwent in multicultural awareness. And the cultural interchange activities were found to have a great effect on the improvement of the multicultural awareness of the students from both countries, and it was possible to figure out the characteristics of their changes in multicultural awareness in detail. This study is expected to lay the theoretical foundation for future research on multicultural education and education on the international society.
