국문 초록

본 연구는 예술이 마음의 작용과 관련하여 어떤 의미를 지니고 있는지 살펴보고, 이를 근거로 예술교육의 의미와 중요성을 논의하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 실험미학이론, 지각 현상학, 시각적 사고 그리고 체화된 마음이론을 중심으로 미적경험에 대한 심리학적 분석을 실시하였다. 미적경험은 직접경험을 통해 지각적으로 사고하는 것으로, 사물의 본질을 탐구하고 사물의 이면에 가려져 있는 의미의 세계를 발견하고 구성하는 인지의 한 방식으로 이해된다. 마음의 이와 같은 인지적 측면들은 과학적 사고의 패러다임의 영향으로 학문의 영역에서는 물론 심리학의 영역에서도 크게 주목 받지 못했다. 그럼에도 불구하고 지각 현상학과 시각적 사고와 같은 지각이론에 의해 인지적 기능과 관련한 예술의 중요성이 지속적으로 강조되어 왔고, 최근에는 인지과학 분야에서 새롭게 떠오르고 있는 체화된 마음이론과 같은 대안이론들에서 지각적으로 사고하는 인지의 한 방식이 새롭게 관심을 불러일으키고 있다. 미적경험과 예술의 인지적 기능에 대한 논의는 예술교육의 중요성을 강화하고, 예술교육이 미적 형태를 구현하는 기술과 기능을 가르치는 교육으로부터 벗어나서, 삶을 이해하고 구성하는 능력으로서의 미적경험을 중시하는 교육으로 발전하도록 하는데 중요한 이론적 기초를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This research aimed to study what kind of meaning art has in relation with cognitive functions to draw the meaning and importance of art education in the reality governed by scientific thinking. For this purpose we carried out a psychological analysis on aesthetic experiences centered on experimental aesthetics theory, Phenomenology of perception, visual thinking and embodied mind theory. Aesthetic experiences is understood as one way of cognition to inquire the nature of the things and discover and constitute the world of meaning covered in the back of the things, that is, as one method of cognition thinking perceptually through experiences. This cognitive aspect of the mind understood as aesthetical experiences under the influences of paradigm scientific thinking didn t draw any high attention in psychological area as well as in the area of learning. Nevertheless, the importance of art has been continuously emphasized with cognitive functions by the perception theory like Phenomenology of perception, visual thinking, and recently some presents the possibility to bring about a new concern in the method of cognition thinking perceptually by direct experiences by approaching in the dynamic relation of mind-body-environment the matter of cognition in the embodied mind theory newly appearing in the field of cognitive science. The argument over cognitive functions of aesthetic experiences and art is expected to reinforce art education, and provide an important theoretical basis so that art education may escape from the education teaching the technology and functions to embody aesthetic forms into the education to lay emphasis on aesthetic experiences as the ability to understand and compose life.
