세대 간 및 세대 내 직업이동 분석: 외환위기 당시 남성 대졸자 중심으로

국문 초록

한국사회는 급격한 산업화에 따라서 직업구조의 변화와 함께 직업이동 또한 다양한 양상을 겪어왔다. 특히 90년대 말 외환위기를 지나면서 청년층은 경기침체, 고학력화 등의 현상을 경험하였으며, 이는 향후 직업을 전개해가는 과정에서 영향을 끼친 것으로 사료된다. 이에 이 연구에서는 외환위기 당시 남성 (전문)대졸자를 대상으로 이들의 20년 동안의 직업 이동 양상을 탐색적으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 또한 이들을 유사한 특성에 따라 특정 유형으로 구분하였을 때, 이들의 직업 이동 유형에 영향을 미치는 세대 내 및 세대 간 특성은 무엇인지 구명하고자 하였다. 다채널배열분석과 최적일치법을 활용한 결과, 직업이동 유형을 다음과 같이 ‘사무직 진입형’, ‘관리·전문직 진입형’, ‘준전문·기술직 진입형’, ‘농업·기술·단순직 진입형’, ‘직업 혼재형 ( 진입유예형 , 자영업 진입형 )’ 등 6개로 구분하였다. 각 유형은 전반적으로 비경활상태 및 교육훈련을 경험하며, 직업 경력은 첫 직업의 직종을 반영하고 있었다. 이들의 세대내 및 세대간 특성의 영향을 확인하기 위하여 다항로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시했을 때, 인구통계학적 특성을 통제한 상태에서 세대 내 특성과 세대 간 특성의 효과가 발견되었다. 이를 바탕으로 결론 및 한계점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Korean society has undergone various aspects of occupational mobility along with changes in the job structure due to rapid industrialization and economic crisis in the late 1990s. This study aimed to examine how occupation mobility of male youth who graduated colleges and universities during economic crisis in the late 1990s unfolds for 20 years, using Korean Labor& Income Panel Study. Using sequence analysis with optimal matching, this study categorized the concept of occupation mobility into two channels: job-specific and labor status. occupation pattern types of korean college and university graduates were identified as clericals type , management and professionals type , agriculture, technology, and elementary occupation type , mixed occupation type . Especially, ‘mixed occupation type’ is divided into two sub categories as Advanced type and Operation type as follows. Each type generally experienced a duration of noneconomically production or education & training, and each of their occupational pattern type reflected the characteristics of first job of respondents. Multi logistic regression was performed to identify the effects of their intra-generational and inter-generational characteristics, and both of their effects were found when demographic characteristics were inserted for control variables. On this basis, conclusions and limitations were presented.
