국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 온정적 합리주의 리더십을 개발하고 실천한 중등학교장들의 삶의 의미를 고찰하는 것이다. 본 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 온정적 합리주의 리더십은 어떤 삶의 과정을 통하여 개발되었는가? 둘째, 그들은 학교에서 어떻게 온정적 합리주의 리더십을 실천하고 있으며, 그들이 실천한 온정적 합리주의 리더십의 의미는 무엇인가? 연구방법으로 Clandinin과 Connelly(2000)의 내러티브 탐구방법을 적용하였다. 연구결과, 그들은 학교교육 목표의 명료화, 지원적이고 개방적인 학교 분위기 조성, 직무 동기유발 및 의사소통체계 확립, 단위학교에 알맞은 학교교육 프로그램 운영을 위하여 차별화된 온정적 합리주의 리더십을 실천하고 있었다. 그들이 실천했던 온정적 합리주의 리더십의 의미는 자신과 타인의 삶을 소중하게 느끼는 인본주의의 실천, 타인의 성장을 위한 자기성찰과 자기계발에의 헌신, 새롭게 거듭남(born-again)의 실천, 개별적 개인의 존재가치와 특성을 존중하고 배려하는 맞춤식 리더십의 실천, 학교 교육의 공정성, 평등성과 효율성의 실천이었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore meanings of three secondary principals’ lives, who have developed and practiced compassionate rationalism leadership in the course of carrying out their principalship. The puzzles to chase after in the study were as follows. What kind of streams of lives triggered their present compassionate rationalism leadership to develop? How have they showed their compassionate rationalism leadership in performing their principalship successfully and what kind of meanings could be drawn from their practices of compassionate rationalism leadership in sites of schools? The Clandinin and Connelly’s narrative inquiry method was applied over all for the methodology. The major findings were like following; they have been role-modeling for compassionate rationalism leadership distinctively for clarifying objectives of school education, designing supportive and open climate of school, organizing systems of job motivation and communication, and lastly managing some programs of school education. The meanings of their own compassionate rationalism leadership implied several things: practice of humanism containing values of lives of others as well as themselves; committment to both self-reflection and self–development for the growth of others; experience of born-again; practice of customized leadership respecting and caring for individual person’s value of being and characteristics; and finally representation of equity, equality, and efficiency in school education.
