중년기 성인학습자들의 전환학습을 통한 재취업 경험

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중년기 성인학습자들의 전환학습을 통한 경험 및 재취업의 경험세계를 이해하는데 있다. 중년기에 해당하는 40∼60세의 성인학습자 8명을 선정하여 질적 사례연구방법을 적용하였다. 연구결과 중년기 성인학습자들은 전환학습을 통해 개인적, 사회적 차원의 변화를 경험하였다. 개인적 차원으로는 1)관점의 변화, 2)심리정서적 변화, 3)사회성 향상을 경험하였다. 사회적 차원으로는 1)주변인들까지 동반성장, 2)지역사회에서 긍정적인 역할수행을 경험하였다. 성인학습자들의 재취업 성공 관련 이슈들과 관련된 전환학습의 경험은 자신감 회복, 자기 성찰, 세상을 보는 관점이 넓어짐, 세상에 대해 겸손해짐, 삶의 활력소, 주도적인 자신의 삶 개척이었다. 전환학습을 통한 재취업의 성공경험을 분석한 결과 ‘끊임없이 되새김질하며 나와 주변을 바라봄’, ‘성공에서 완성의 길로 선회함’, ‘머무는 건 퇴보: 앞으로 나아가기’, ‘내가 주인공이 되어 연출하는 또 다른 세상을 개척함’의 4가지 주제들을 발견하였다. 재취업의 경험은 ‘끊임없는 삶의 반추를 통해 내가 주도적으로 선택한 일을 하면서 세상과 더불어 살아가기’였다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 성인학습자들의 전환학습과 재취업을 지원하기 위한 정책적, 실천적 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of middle-aged adult learners through transformative learning and the success factors of re-employment. Eight adult learners aged 40~60 years were selected and applied qualitative case study method. As a result, middle-aged adult learners experienced a change in personal and social level through the transformative learning. On the personal level, they experienced 1) change of perspective, 2) psychological and emotional change, and 3) social improvement. On the social level, they experienced 1) mutual growth with people around, and 2) positive role performance in the community. The transformative learning experiences related to the success of re-employment of adult learners were confidence recovery, self - reflection, broad view of the world, humility about the world, energetic life, and pioneering their own lives. As a result of analyzing the success experiences of re-employment through the transformative learning, it was found four themes that ‘constantly ruminating and looking around with me’, ‘turning from the success to the path of completion’, ‘staying backward: moving forward’, and ‘pioneering another world that I am leading as a hero’. The experience of re-employment was ‘to live with the world while doing the work that I chose to lead through the rumination of my life.’ Based on the above results, policy and practical suggestions were made.
