실행연구의 이론적 배경 탐색

국문 초록

실행연구(action research)는 연구자 자신이 주체가 되어 자신의 실천을 스스로 탐구해가는 연구 방식으로 과정 지향적 탐구 패러다임이다. 실행연구의 이론적 배경은 사회적 실천과 연구의 연결을 강조하는 다양한 학문적 전통, 즉 실용주의, 인간주의, 구성주의, 체계이론, 복잡성 이론, 비판이론, 포스트모더니즘에 바탕을 두고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실행연구의 이론적 배경이 되는 학문적 전통들을 탐색하고 실행연구와 각 이론과의 관련성을 파악하였다. 실생활 문제의 해결을 중시하는 실용주의, 자신의 실천을 탐구하고 성찰하는 인간주의 철학, 지식의 맥락을 중시하는 구성주의, 동태적이고 역동적인 과정을 강조하는 체계이론과 복잡성 이론은 실행연구가 갖는 주요 특징들과 각각 관련이 있다. 한편, 이론과 실천을 연계하는 면에서 실행연구는 비판이론과, 맥락적이고 일상적인 지식을 강조하는 측면에서는 포스트모더니즘과 관련을 맺는다.

영문 초록

Action research refers to process-oriented paradigm that is a study method exploring researchers’ action by themselves. Theoretical backgrounds of action research are based on various academic traditions such as pragmatism, humanism, constructivism, system theory and complexity theory that emphasize connection between social practice and research. This research examines theoretical backgrounds of action research and apprehends relation between action research and each theoretical backgrounds. Action research specially is related to pragmatism emphasizing problem solving of real life, humanism exploring one’s practice and introspecting, constructivism considering contextual composition of knowledge, system and complexity theory underlying a dynamic and forceful process. Moreover, action research is related to criticism theory in terms of making a connection between theory and action and is related to post-modernism in terms of emphasizing contextual and informal knowledge.
