국문 초록

이 글은 제주도 무속에서 전승되는 조상신본풀이 중 하나인 <고전적본풀이>를 다룬다. 무엇보다 해당 본풀이의 형성과 전승에 영향을 끼친 변이 원인들을 다각도로 살피는 데 중점을 두었다. <고전적본풀이>는 신분과 혈연 의식이 강조된 조상신본풀이이다. 서사의 큰 틀은 보편적인 조상신본풀이의 작법을 취하는 듯 보이나, 남성 조상신의 지위와 명망에 연관된 내용을 전반부에 부각시키고 혈연 관계의 신격에 비중을 두어 전승을 이어온 정황이 포착된다. 이 서사특성과 함께 본풀이의 전승을 둘러싼 역사적 배경을 따진 결과, 본래 가계와 직접적인 연관이 없는 고홍진이 아닌 명도암 마을의 설촌자 고이지의 내력을 신격화 하였던 흔적을 찾을 수 있었다. <고전적본풀이>와 관련 조상신앙은 <김전적본풀이>와 관련 조상신앙을 형성하는 전범이었다. <김전적본풀이>가 형성된 배경은 두 집안의 혼인 관계와 관련되어 있다. <김전적본풀이>는 명도암 김씨 집안이 명도암 고씨 집안과는 별도로 자신들의 직계혈족인 김진용과 자식들의 업적을 내세우기 위하여 마련된 조상신앙이다. 명도암 김씨 집안이 자신들의 조상신앙을 마련해 가는 과정은 제주도 무속에서 한 집안의 조상신앙이나 조상신본풀이가 생성되는 일례를 보여준다. 더하여 명도암 김씨 집안의 가문의식은 제주도 무속 내에서 <고전적본풀이>와 관련된 전승맥락―당신앙, 의례 등―의 변이를 야기하여 왔다. 이처럼 <고전적본풀이>의 형성과 전승의 문제는 전승공동체의 지향점과 필요에 따라, 조상신앙 또는 조상신본풀이가 끊임없이 생성, 변이, 파생의 길을 걸어 온 과정과 맞물려 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine, from various perspectives, the formation of (Ko family’s shaman song), one of the Josangsin Bonpuri(ancestor god shaman song) passed down as part of shamanism in Jeju Island, and the cause of its variation to have the current context that has been passed down today. is a type of Josangsin Bonpuri which emphasizes awareness about one’s status and kindred. The broad framework of its narrative seems to take the form of typical Josangsin Bonpuri, but it has been identified that Ko-jeonjeok Bonpuri highlighted a story related to the status and reputation of male ancestor gods in the beginning and had been passed down focusing on the divinity of kindred relations. Given these narrative features and historical facts related to how it had been passed down, the fact was found that the original narrative of included the history of Ko I-ji who was the founder of the Myeongdoam village, not Ko Hong-jin who was not directly related to the family. served as the basis of (Kim family’s shaman song). In its own right different from , is an ancestor religious belief, where the Myeongdoam Kim family touted the achievements of the historical figure Kim Jin-yong and his descendants. The background behind is related to a marital relationship between the two families. The way the Myeongdoam Kim family established its ancestor religious belief demonstrates an example of how a family’s ancestor religious belief or Josangsin Bonpuri is created in shamanism in Jeju Island. The Myeongdoam Kim family’s awareness as a family caused change―belief in Dang, ritual(), etc.―in the transmission context related to . The question of how was formed and passed down is intertwined with the way an ancestor religious belief or Josangsin Bonpuri was constantly created, changed, derived as intended by the aims or needs of the transmission community.
