국문 초록

본 연구는 중학생의 부모-자녀 간 의사소통, 공감능력, 학교적응의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 중소도시의 3개 중학교 1~3학년을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였으며, 566부의 설문지를 통계 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모-자녀 간 개방형 의사소통은 공감능력과 학교적응에서 유의미한 정적상관을 보였고, 부모-자녀 간 문제형 의사소통은 공감능력과 학교적응에서 유의미한 부적상관을 보였다. 공감능력과 학교적응 간에는 유의미한 정적상관을 보였다. 둘째, 부모-자녀 간 의사소통과 학교적응의 관계에서 공감능력은 부분매개 하였다. 즉 개방형 의사소통은 공감능력을 높이고 학교적응을 높이는 반면, 문제형 의사소통은 공감능력을 낮추며 학교적응에 부정적 영향을 주었다. 따라서 부모와 자녀의 긍정적인 의사소통과 공감능력은 청소년기의 원만한 학교적응에 중요한 역할을 함이 확인되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to study the perceived parent-child communication, empathic ability, and school adjustment of middle school students. This has been done by surveying middle school students of all ages from three selected middle schools located in small to medium-sized cities of Gyeonggi-do, and the results of 566 conducted surveys are as follows. First, open parent-child communication showed significant positive correlation with empathic ability and school adjustment, whereas poor parent-child communication showed significant negative correlation with the aforementioned variables. There was also a significant positive correlation between empathic ability and school adjustment. Second, empathic ability was shown to be a partial mediator in the relationship between parent-child communication and school adjustment. In other words, open communication increased empathic ability and school adjustment, whereas poor communication decreased the two variables. Therefore, it was confirmed that open parent-child communication and positive empathic ability play an important role in school adjustment of adolescents.
