⌈교육사회학연구⌋ 20년: 궤적, 성취, 그리고 과제

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국교육사회학회의 공식 학술지인 교육사회학연구에 게재되었던 논문들의 저 자 특성 및 내용을 종단적으로 개관하고자 수행되었다. 1990년에 창간된 이후에 처음으로 시도되는 교육사회학연구에 대한 이러한 포괄적인 범위의 종단적 추이 분석은 한국 교육사 회학의 학문적 발전 및 저변 확대를 위한 논의의 활성화에 기여할 것으로 기대되었다. 연구 목적의 달성을 위해 연구자는 1990년부터 2010년 사이에 교육사회학연구에 게재되었던 총 461편의 논문에 대해 저자 특성, 연구방법, 연구주제 등을 내용분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 지 난 20여 년 동안에 교육사회학연구에 게재되었던 논문들에서 드러난 특성을 시기별로 나누 어 고찰한 결과, 저자 성비의 불균형, 논문을 안정적으로 게재하는 저자의 감소, 공동 연구 및 양적 연구의 증가, 연구주제의 빠른 변화 등을 파악할 수 있었다. 한편 교육사회학연구 는 완성도가 높은 논문들만을 엄선하여 게재함으로써 국내 사회과학 영역의 학술지 중에서 가장 높은 수준의 인용도 지수(IF)를 유지하고 있었다. 이 같은 연구결과를 종합하여 한국 교육사회학계가 앞으로도 지속적으로 학문적 발전을 이루어내기 위해서는 연구자 저변을 확 대하는 일이 무엇보다도 시급하다는 결론을 도출하였다. 마지막으로, 이러한 문제의식을 바 탕으로 몇 가지 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study attempts to examine publication patterns in Korean Journal of Sociology of Education, a peer-reviewed academic journal founded in 1990 by the Korean Society for the Study of Sociology of Education. The study provides the first longitudinal overview of Korean Journal of Sociology of Education, contributing to a broader discussion of the Journal's role in advancing the scholarship of sociology of education in Korea. A total of 461 articles published during the period from 1990 to 2010 of the Journal were analyzed for authorship, research method, and article content, using content analysis. In general, publishing patterns witnessed for the first twenty years of the Journal are characterized by gender imbalance of authors, decline in the number of authors publishing articles regularly over time, increase in collaborative work and quantitative research over time, and shifting emphases of subject matter. Meanwhile, the Journal is regarded as highly selective and accepts only high quality articles, obtaining the highest level of impact factor(IF) among the social sciences journals published in Korea. Taken together, it is imperative to expand and broaden the researcher base for the advancement of the scholarship of sociology of education in Korea. With this in mind, several measures to address the issue are suggested.
