농어촌지역 학교의 교직문화 연구

국문 초록

교직문화는 교사의 교육활동에 영향을 주며, 이는 다시 그들의 교육활동의 질을 결정하기 때문에 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 이 연구는 교사의 삶과 문화가 농어촌이라는 지역적인 특성과 관련하여 어떠한 방식으로 전개되고 있는 가를 분석하였으며, 연구의 방법으로는 심층면접의 기법을 활용하였다. 연구의 결과에 따르면 농어촌지역에 배치되는 교사들은 희망과 좌절을 동시에 경험하면서 그들 나름의 교직관을 형성해 간다는 것을 알 수 있다. 농어촌학교가 갖는 조건의 열악성과 자원의 한계성은 교사들로 하여금 자기 역할의 중요성과 가능성을 깨닫게 함으로써 교원양성과정에서 당위적인 의미로만 파악해왔던 교직관을 재인식하게 하는 요인이 되기도 한다. 그러나 이러한 교직관은 현실적인 조건, 즉 생활인으로서의 삶이라는 개인적 조건과 교사로서의 역할수행과정에서 직면하게 되는 지역, 학교, 학생 등 같은 상황적 조건들과 부딪히면서 약화되어 갈 수밖에 없다. 그리고 이 과정에서 설정되는 '도시로 나가기'라는 현실적 목표는 농어촌 지역에 근무하는 교사들의 교육활동을 규정하고 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to describe the teaching profession culture of teachers who were served in rural middle schools. In order to pursue the study purpose, a review of literature and an ethnographical interviews were made with 12 teachers who had served in rural middle schools. The findings of the study were as follows; First, teachers who were served in rural middle schools arranged their actual aim to move into the urban school. Second, teachers who were served in rural middle schools formed the collective-cooperative school climates. Third, schoolmasters who were served in rural middle schools were authoritative, but teachers didn't resist their authorities. Fourth, teachers who were served in rural middle schools experienced conflicts between the idealistic view and the realistic view of teaching profession. Teachers' view of idealistic teaching profession was transformed with their service area. Fifth, teachers who were served in rural middle schools emphasized the guidance rather than the instruction. Sixth, the relationship between teachers and students was more friendly and informal in rural middle school than that of the urban middle schools. Seventh, the relationship between teachers and parents was more friendly and informal in rural middle school than that of the urban middle schools. Eighth, teachers who were commute from urban home to rural school were an alien and outsider in home and school.
