영문 초록

The primary therapeutic application of osseointegrated fixtures, as developed by Branemark and his Swedish coworkers, has been for the reconstruction of completely edentulous dental arches. Osseointegration provides immobile root analogues(fixtures) with predictable longevity to which removable prostheses can be fastened by gold screw. The application must now be considered for the partially edentulous patients. Patterns of partial tooth loss fall into three categories : 1) single interdental, 2) multiple interdental and 3) freeend loss. Single tooth replacement with implant may be the more conservative treatment when there has been traumatic loss of an individual dental unit, as is often the case in young patients. Because implant therapy, in these circumstances, eliminates the involvement of the adjacent teeth. Implants may be applicable , and even preferable, in cases where the edentulous site is larger than the adjacent natural dentition. In these circumstances, implants eliminate the necessity for using oversized crowns to provide the patient with a fixed restoration. Osseointegrated implant therapy also eliminates the need for restoration of areas that may be already involved with clinically acceptable, extensive bridgework. The aim of this paper is to report the clinical experiences of replacement of lost natural teeth with implants in three cases * two single tooth replacements and one unilateral freeend loss case.
