Adolescent Girls' Sexual Rights and Risks in Korea

국문 초록

청소년기의 주된 임무는 개인의 정체감을 확립하는 일이다. 성적 주체성 은 십대 소녀들의 자아형성에 중요한 요소이다. 그러나 한국 사회에서 이들은 자신의 성적 인식과 일상생활의 실제적인 성 행동 사이에서 혼란을 겪고 있다. 사회변화와 성별 역동성은 여성청소년의 삶에 다양한 영향을 미치고 있다. 최근 한국 사회의 띠성학자들은 청소년들의 문화와 연결하여 그들의 성 행동과 사회화 과정을 탐구하기 시작했다 이 연구는 선행연구를 검토 하여 여성청소년들의 성적 자유와 이에 따르는 위험성을 밝히고자 하였다.우선 우리 사회에서 청소년에게 영향을 주는 환경요인, 즉, 봉건적 가족관 계, 억압적인 교육체계, 소비주의를 분석하였고, 다음으로 십대 소녀들의 성에 대한 인식과 행동을 모색하였다. 마지막으로 이들의 성적 주체성 확 립의 가능성을 제시하였다. 현재 사회체제는 한편으로 십대 소녀를 "무성적인 학생"으로 취급하고 있으며 이들의 성행동을 통제하려고 노력한다. 그러나 다른 한편으로 자본 주의는 돈을 위해 성적으로 방종하도록 이들을 부추기고 있다 따라서 한국 사회에서 여성청소년들은 성적으로 극단적인 상황에 놓여 있다 :무성 적으로 순진하거나, 아니면 돈을 위해 성적으로 적극적인 상황. 또한 사랑 하는 남자친구와의 성관계를 원하는 소녀들도 종종 있긴 하지만 이들의 성행위는 자신의 성적 욕망을 위한 것이라기보다는 남자친구와의 심리적 인 밀착을 유지하기 위한 수단으로 보인다. Tolman(1994)이 지적했던 것처럼, "소녀와 여성은 자신의 욕망을 알지 못하므로 자신이 느끼는 성적인 감정과 스스로 쾌락을 부여하도록 대응하 는 것이 전혀 잘못된 일이 아니라는 사실을 알지 못하고 있다" (p. 339).한국 소녀들의 성적 혼란과 앙면성은 바로 성적 주체성의 결여에서 비롯 된다. 그들은 자신의 몸이 돈으로 교환될 수 있는 자원이라는 점은 알고 있지만 자신의 몸에 내면화된 억압은 인식하지 못한다. 또한 그들은 자신의 몸이 쾌락의 근원이라는 점을 알고 있지만, 쾌락 이면에 은폐되어 있는 성폭력은 인식하지 못한다. 이들 소녀의 쾌락과 욕망은 바로 남성의 돈과 욕망을 통해 주어지는 셈이다. 자신의 성에 대해 비판적으로 생각하고 말함으로써 여성청소년은 자신의 행동과 그 결과에 책임을 지는 능력을 확보하게 되고 자신의 몸이 자본주의에 의해 쉽게 이용될 수 있다는 사실을 인식하게 된다. 오늘날 한국사회에서 십대 소녀들은 자신의 성과 삶에 관해 논의할 수 있는 문화공간을 창조하고자 노력하고 있다. 이들이 확고한 자아정체감을 구축할 때 자 신의 성적 욕망과 실제 행동 사이에 빛어지는 호기심과 혼란의 모순이 해결될 것으로 생각된다.

영문 초록

The main work of the teenage stage is to construct a sense of personal identity. Sexual subjectivity is a crucial factor of sense of self among teenage girls. However, girls in Korean society seem to have conflict between their embodied sexual feelings and actual sexual behaviors within the social and relational contexts of their everyday lives. Present social systems treat teenage girls as "asexual students" and try to control their sexual behaviors. By tempting girls to buy and own more goods, on the other hand, capitalism encourages them to sexually liberate for money. Thus, girls in Korean society today are taking one of polar positions; the sexless innocent or the sexually active for money. Although there are girls who want to have sexual relations with their lovers, their sexual behaviors seem to be a mechanism to maintain psychological closeness with their boyfriends, rather than to express their own sexual desire. As Tolman(1994) indicated, "in 'not knowing' desire, girls and women are at risk for not knowing that there is nothing wrong with having sexual feelings and responding to them in ways that bring joy and agency" (p. 339). Korean girls' sexual conflict and ambivalence are resulted in the absent of sexual subjectivity. They know their bodies are resources for exchangeable money, but they don't realize the internalized oppression of their bodies. They know their bodies are foundations of pleasure, but they don't realize sexual violence of underlying pleasure. Pleasure and desire of their bodies are accomplished through men's money and desire. By thinking and speaking their sexuality critically, adolescent girls may have empowerment to take account of their behaviors and its consequences. Also girls may consider that their bodies are easily exploited by capitalism. Teenagers in Korea today try to create their own cultural spaces within which they discuss their sexuality and lives. I think their sense of self may solve the discrepancy between advanced curiosities and justified confusion concerning their sexual desires and behaviors.
