예이츠의 『꿈꾸는 백골들』(1917)은 그가 일생동안 쓴 두 편의 정치 희곡 중 하나이다−다른 하나는 『캐스린 니 훌리훈』(1902)이다. 이것은 또한 3편의 다른 댄스 희곡들 중의 하나로, 일본의 노 드라마의 영감으로 그가 새로 고안한 연극의 형식이다. 플롯은 간단하다. 저 세상의 두 연인들은 700전 조국을 배반한 죄로 서로에게 키스할 수 없다. 그래서 여기서 젊은이에 의한 자신들의 죄의 정화를 갈망하지만, 그는 그렇게 할 수 없다. 그들은 이제 다시 연옥으로 돌아간다. 젊은이는 도피 중일 것이고, 그들은 밤하늘로 돌아간다. 본 논문은 이 극의 구조적 힘, 특히 3명의 악사들이 이 연극에서 무슨 역할을 하는지 분석한다.

영문 초록

The Dreaming of The Bones (1917) is one of the two political plays Yeats had written in his life−the other being Cathleen ni Houlihan (1902). It is also a new poetic drama, along with three other dance dramas, the form of which Yeats newly invented, inspired by Japanese Noh drama. The plot is simple: the spirits of two lovers cannot kiss each other because of their transgression of betrayal to their country 700 years ago; they wish to be purged of their sins by a young man. He joined the Easter Rising and is now on the run. Mesmerized by their story, he almost gives in to forgive them, but does not. The lovers will be trapped in purgatory forever. This essay discusses the dynamics of the play, in particular, the roles the Three Musicians play in the drama.
