국문 초록
This paper discusses the syntax of a bound noun tung in Korean. Choi (2018) and Park (2019, 2020) have recently examined the semantic and pragmatic use of the bound noun tung. The bound noun has two different (or even opposite) meanings (Choi 2018, Park 2019; 2020)-it can refer to the listed entities before the bound noun tung in a sentence or include similar entities that are not mentioned in a sentence. Also, the bound noun tung can be followed by a noun that interprets or generalizes the listed entities (Park 2019, 2020). Basically, I assume that the meaning of the bound noun tung is a pro-form following Choi (2018) and Park (2019, 2020). I provide the syntactic argument that the bound noun tung merges in small n. I further assume that it is affixal and thus attracts a N head into small n which is in line with other bound nouns in Korean (Kim 2017a, 2017b, 2017c). It is also argued that the noun that provides the interpretation/generalization is an appositive of the phrases headed by the bound noun tung and merges in D following Radford (2004).
