중학교 동아리 활동을 위한 통합교육 프로그램 개발: ‘거북선’을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 중학교 동아리 활동을 위하여 국어, 기술, 역사, 과학 등 다양한 교과를 통합할 수 있는 내용으로 프로그램을 개발하고 그 교육적 효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 기존의 거북선을 활용한 교육프로그램과 달리 ‘거북선’과 ‘한국식 노’를 중심으로 영화 분석, 모형 만들기, 체험하기, 시나리오 작성하기 등 다양한 활동으로 교수학습을 구성하였다. ‘거북선’을 주제로 학습자가 주도적으로 해결하는 과정이 중심이기에 문제 중심학습(PBL)을 적용하여 14차시 교육프로그램으로 개발하였다. 개발된 교육프로그램에 대한 교육적 효과를 확인하기 위하여 제주도 소재 P 중학교 과학동아리 활동에 참여하는 중학생 13명을 대상으로 프로그램을 적용하였다. 설문지 분석을 통해 인지적 영역 및 정의적 영역의 변화를 알아보았고, 지식, 적용, 융합적 사고, 창의적 사고 등 인지적 영역과 학습 정서, 자아개념, 학습 동기, 거북선 관련 태도 중 가치와 흥미 등 정의적 영역에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 학습 내용의 중복과 과부하, 학습 과정에서의 어려움 등으로 정의적 영역에서 거북선 관련 태도 중 호기심에 긍정적인 효과가 나타나지 않았으므로 학습량으로 인한 부작용이 발생하지 않도록 교사들이 학생과 긴밀한 상호소통을 할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to develop a program that integrates various subjects such as Korean, technology, history, and science for middle school club activities and to evaluate its educational effectiveness. Unlike existing educational programs utilizing the turtle ship (Geobukseon), this program incorporated a variety of activities including film analysis, model making, hands-on experiences, and scenario writing, with a focus on both the turtle ship and Korean-style oars. Centered around the process of students solving challenges related to the Geobukseon, problem-based learning (PBL) was applied, resulting in the development of a 14-period curriculum. In order to verify the educational effectiveness of the developed educational program, the program was implemented with 13 middle school students participating in science club activities at P Middle School on Jeju Island. Changes in cognitive and affective domains were examined through questionnaires. The findings indicated that the program had a positive impact on cognitive areas such as knowledge acquisition, application, convergent thinking, and creative thinking. Additionally, affective areas, including learning emotions, self-concept, learning motivation, and attitudes toward the turtle ship, showed significant improvement. However, curiosity in relation to the turtle ship did not show a positive change, possibly due to overlapping content and an overwhelming learning load, which presnted difficulties udring the learning process. This suggests the need for teachers to maintain close communication with students to mitigate potential negative effects caused by the intensity of the content.
