국문 초록

로마서 7:14-25에 등장하는 ‘나’는 중생한 그리스도인이 아니라고주장하는 많은 학자들은 그 근거로 이 단락에 성령에 대한 명백한언급이 나타나지 않는다는 것을 제시한다. 본 논문은 ‘나’를 성령이없는 중생하지 않은 자로 보는 견해가 타당한가를 살펴본다. 이를위해 로마서 8:1-39에서 바울이 성령에 대해 언급하는 것을 면밀히검토하고 7:14-25와 대조하면서 본 논문은 7:14-25에 성령에 대한직접적 언급이 없다는 것이 이 단락의 ‘나’를 중생하지 않은 비그리스도인으로 단정하는 보증이 되지 못한다고 주장한다. 로마서 8장에서 바울이 제시하는 성령은 이전 단락의 ‘나’를 성령을 소유한 그리스도인으로 볼 수 있는 실마리를 제공하고 있다. 7:14-25에서 바울은 원함과 행동 사이의 갈등으로 표출된 그리스도인의 연약함에 초점을 두고 있는 듯하다. 그리스도인의 삶에 성령의도우심의 필요성을 강조하기 위해 바울은 의도적으로 ‘나’ 자신의힘으로는 하나님의 법을 행할 수 없는 무능함을 부각시킨다. 7:14-25 에서 도움을 구하는 곤고한 ‘나’에 대한 바울의 묘사는 8:1-30에서성령에 대해 언급하기 위한 바울의 수사적 전략이라고 볼 수 있다. 바울은 그의 논증을 효과적으로 이끌기 위해 7:14-25에서는 ‘나’와관련하여 성령에 대한 표현을 자제할 자유를 갖고 있다. ‘나’는 곤고하여 탄식하지만 궁극적으로 성령으로 인해 예수를 주고 고백하고하나님을 찬송하는 그리스도인으로 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

Many scholars who argue that Paul does not describe Christian existence by the ‘I’ in Romans 7:14-25 point out the absence of the explicit mention of the Holy Spirit in this passage as an important ground for their position. This article delves into the related verses to see if, as many scholars insist, the ‘I’ is really unregenerate and without the Holy Spirit. By looking closely at Paul’s statement of the Holy Spirit in Romans 8:1-39 with regard to his depiction of the ‘I’ in 7:14-25, this article asserts that the lack of mention of the Spirit does not warrant the ‘I’ being unregenerate and suggests several reasons to see the ‘I’ as involved with the Holy Spirit in Paul’s argument in 7:14-25 and 8:1-39.
