코칭과 자아초월의 만남을 위한 小考

국문 초록

본 연구는 심리학, 철학, 교육학 등 다양한 학문 분야에 걸쳐 논의되고 있는 자아초월의 개념과 내용을 살펴보고, 코칭 관련 연구에 접목할 수 있는 방향을 탐색하였다. 자아초월과 관련한 연구는 인간 잠재력 개발이 초기 관심사였다. 이후 인간이 가진 상위단계의 욕구에 대한 탐구로 이어졌다. 코칭의 이론적 관점에서 자아초월의 개념을 접목함에 있어 논의될 수 있는 그간의 연구들을 검토해 본 결과, 자아초월의 다음과 같은 관점을 살펴볼 수 있다. 먼저 이론적 측면에서 그간 차아초월에 대한 논의는 첫째, 자기 확대 또는 자기 확장 관점에서의 자아초월, 둘째, 전인적인 관점에서 통합적인 접근, 셋째, 개인의식의 변용적 측면에서의 연구로 확장되고 있다. 코칭을 자아초월적 관점에서 바라보는 통섭적 접근은 인류의 집단의식 상승을 위한 최고의 기회를 창출한다는 의미에서 더욱 가치가 있다. 코칭의 실천적 측면에서도 자아개념의 확대는 타인을 이해하고, 협업을 촉진할 수 있는 가능성을 높여준다. 개개인이 분리된 존재가 아니라 원래가 하나인 연결된 존재라는 자아초월의 개념을 코칭에 접목하려는 노력은 코칭이 인류의 의식상승을 위한 유용한 도구로 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 확대하는 것이며, 나아가 코칭의 지속가능한 발전을 위한 또 다른 연구방향을 제시한다는 측면에서 학문적 의의가 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study examined the concepts and contents of self-transcendence discussed in various academic fields such as psychology, philosophy, and pedagogy, and explored directions that can be incorporated into coaching-related research. Research related to self-transcendence was an early concern for human potential development. Since then, it has led to an exploration of human needs at a higher level. As a result of reviewing previous studies that can be discussed in incorporating the concept of self-transcendence from the theoretical point of view of coaching, the following perspectives of self-transcendence can be examined. First, from a theoretical point of view, the discussion on the next transition has been about self-transformation from the perspective of self-expansion or self-expansion. Second, an integrated approach from a holistic perspective. Third, it is expanding to research in terms of transformation of individual consciousness. The coherent approach of looking at coaching from an ego-transcendence perspective is more valuable in the sense that it creates the best opportunity for the rise of human collective consciousness. In terms of coaching practice, the expansion of self-concept also increases the likelihood of understanding others and promoting collaboration. The concept of self-transcendence, in which individuals are not separate beings but connected as one, is discussed as another area applied to coaching, will not only expand the possibility that coaching can be used as a useful tool for raising human consciousness, but also have academic significance in that it presents another research direction for the sustainable development of coaching.
