학자금 지원의 학업성취 효과에 대한 메타분석

국문 초록

한국장학재단의 설립 이후 학자금 지원 정책이 확대됨에 따라 학자금 지원의 효과에 대한 연구가 상당히 축적되어 있음에도 불구하고 연구마다 학자금 지원 효과에 대한 결과가 상반되게 나타남에 따라 효과에 대한 종합적 판단을 내리기 어려운 상황이다. 이에 이 연구에서는 학자금 지원의 학업성취 효과를 체계적으로 종합하기 위해 메타분석을 실시하였다. 분석에는 국내 연구물 19편(학술지논문 13편, 학위논문 2편, 연구보고서 4편)과 이들 연구물에서 추출한 총 77개의 효과크기가 활용되었고 CMA(Comprehensive Meta Analysis) V4를 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과는 첫째, 랜덤효과모형을 적용하여 도출한 전체 효과크기의 값이 .206으로 작은 효과크기지만 유의하게 존재해서 학자금 지원이 학업성취에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학자금 지원 유형에 따른 효과크기 차이를 분석한 결과 장학금은 학업성취에 긍정적인 효과가 있었으나 학자금 대출은 부적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 대학 구분에 따라서는 전문대학과 4년제 대학 모두 학자금 지원의 학업성취 효과가 유의하게 존재했으나 집단 간 효과 차이는 유의하지 않았다. 끝으로 메타회귀분석을 활용하여 출판연도의 영향을 분석한 결과 장학금의 경우 보다 최근에 발표한 연구물일수록 이전보다 학업성취에 주는 학자금 지원의 영향이 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 토대로 학자금 지원의

영문 초록

Although there has been considerable accumulation of research on the effectiveness of student aid as the student aid policy has expanded since the establishment of the Korea Scholarship Foundation, it is difficult to make a comprehensive judgment on the effectiveness of each study. Therefore, in this study, a meta-analysis was conducted to systematically synthesize the academic achievement effect of student support. For the analysis, 19 domestic studies (13 academic journal papers, 2 thesis papers, 4 research reports) and a total of 77 effect sizes extracted from these studies were used and analyzed using Comprehensive Meta Analysis (CMA) V4. First, the analysis result is the value of the total effect size derived by applying the random effect model. It was found that student support had a positive effect on academic achievement because it was a small effect size of 206. Second, as a result of analyzing the difference in effect size according to the type of student support, it was found that scholarships had a positive effect on academic achievement, but student loans had a negative effect. According to the university classification, the effect size of each subgroup was all significant, but the difference in effect size between groups was not significant. Finally, as a result of analyzing the impact of the publication year using meta-regression analysis, in the case of scholarships, the more recently announced research, the higher the impact of student support on academic achievement than before. Based on the above research results, the design of support measures to improve the practical effect of student support and implications for subsequent research were proposed.
