국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 CIP 리더십모델에 대한 국내 연구 동향을 살펴보고 미래 연구방향을 제시하는 것이다. CIP 리더십 모델의 출발은 Mumford & Van Doorn(2001)가 미국의 역사적 리더인벤저민 프랭클린 정치가에 대한 연구이다. 이어 Mumford(2006)는 탁월한(outstanding) 리더십에이르는 경로를 몇 가지 중요한 차원에서 비교 연구한 후, ‘카리스마적(charismatic)리더’, ‘이념적(ideological) 리더’, ‘실용적(pragmatic) 리더’ 등 세 가지로 다른 유형을 제시하였다. Mumford는계량역사학적 방법으로 역사적으로 저명한 120명의 리더들을 [카리스마적, 이념적, 실용적 리더]×[공익적, 이기적 지향]등 여섯 유형(각 20명)으로 분류한 결과를 제시하였다. CIP 리더십 모델이 학계에 소개된 후 해외 유명 저널에서는 지속적으로 연구 논문이 출간되고 있으나, 지금까지 국내에서 CIP 리더십 모델과 관련 있는 논문은 단지 4편에 불과하며, 국내 학술논문이나 서적을 통해 CIP 모델을 상세히 다루고 있지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 CIP 리더십 모델을 상세히알아보고, 국내·외 연구동향을 살펴보고 CIP 리더십 모델의 제한점과 향후 연구방향을 제언하고자 한다. 이를 통해서 CIP 리더십 모델에 대한 국내 리더십 연구자들의 관심도를 제고하고, 국내 리더십 연구의 지평을 넓이는 것에 기여하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the domestic research trends on the CIP leadership model, explain the concept, and to suggest future research directions. The starting point of the CIP leadership model is a study by Mumford & Van Doorn (2001) on the American historical leader, politician Benjamin Franklin. Mumford (2006) then compared the pathways to outstanding leadership on several important dimensions, and then classified them into three: ‘charismatic leaders’, ‘ideological leaders’, and ‘pragmatic leaders’. Mumford presented the results of classifying 120 historically prominent leaders into six types (20 each), such as [charismatic, ideological, and pragmatic leaders] × [socialized and individualized orientation], using an historiometry method. After the CIP model was introduced to the academic field, research papers are continuously being published in famous overseas journals. However, there are only four papers related to the CIP leadership model in Korea so far, and none of the four papers deal with the CIP model in detail. We look at domestic research trends, introduce the CIP leadership model in detail, and suggest the limitations of the model and future research directions. Through this, it is hoped that the interest of Korea leadership researchers in the CIP leadership model can be enhanced and the leadership research method can be expanded.
