국문 초록

본 연구는 20세기 후반 장시간 음반의 발매 양상을 확인하여 당대 시대별, 연창자별, 반주별 특성을 정리해본 것이다. 당대 판소리를 담는 여러 매체가 있었으나 장시간 음반을 통해 전면적 음반 대중화가 이루어졌기 때문에 판소리 문화가 어떻게 유통되고 소비되었는지를 가늠할 수 있었다. 개화기 이후 판소리를 감상의 대상으로 유성기음반에 담아냄으로써 우리는 새로운 미감을 획득할 수 있게 되었다. 오로지 음악으로만 판소리를 듣고 느낌으로써 ‘보기’와 ‘함께 하기’를 포기한 대신 ‘고도의 음악성’에 집중할 수 있게 된 것이다. 이후 유성기음반 시대와는 차원을 달리하는 대중적인 LP음반의 시대가 열렸다. 매체의 변화로 판소리는 20세기 후반 음반 대중화를 이루었고, 그것은 1960년대~1990년대까지 약30~40년간 이루어진 일이다. 비록 50-60년 전부터 시작된 것이기는 하지만 LP음반이 가져다 준 현대 판소리의 역사 또한 그 의미가 적지 않기 때문에 최대한 자료를 정리하고 그 양상을 확인하고자 하였다. 여기서는 1960년대~1990년대까지 판소리 관련 LP음반 목록을 정리하고, 정리된 목록 총 157개를 바탕으로 특성을 살펴보았다. 가장 이른 시기의 판소리 LP음반은 1959년경 녹음된 박초월, 박귀희, 성우향, 한농선, 신유경의 ‘남도민요’시리즈와 ‘남도민요선집, 춘향전과 심청전’으로 보인다. 이후 여러 명창들의 녹음 발매가 이어졌고, 완창 판소리 녹음이 이어졌으며, 90년대 이후 사양의 길을 가게 된 것이 장시간 음반의 역사라 할 수 있다. LP음반에 취입했던 명창들 중 가장 많은 출연 빈도를 가지고 있는 사람은 박초월이었다. 박초월은 완창은 물론 창극에서도 많은 음반을 취입하여 왕성한 활동을 하고 있었다. 1960년대 본격적인 LP음반이 시작될 때부터 70년대까지 활약하였다. 이어 성우향, 박동진, 박봉술, 성창순, 김소희 등이 많은 LP음반을 취입하였다. 반주자들은 60년대에는 레코드사의 전속국악단이 반주를 많이 했다. 녹음 음반의 특성상 반주를 되도록 화려하게 해서 보완하고자 한 의도로 보인다. 한편 1968년 제작된 대도레코드사의 ‘창극 심청전’을 통해 당대 LP음반의 일단을 살펴보았다. 이 음반에서 판소리는 자율성과 즉흥성이 드러나고, 음반의 시간을 맞추기 위한 불필요한 구음이나 사설도 들어갔다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 판소리 관련 장시간 음반은 20세기 후반 판소리를 유통시킨 대표적인 매체로 각광을 받았다. 당대 명창들은 초기에는 인기있는 대목을 중심으로 녹음을 하다가 후반기에는 완창 위주의 녹음을 해나갔음도 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to summarize the characteristics of long playing (LP) record releases by the times, singers, and accompaniments, upon their release aspects in late 20th century. Since the record popularization was realized by LP records though there were multiple media to contain Pansori, how the Pansori culture was distributed and consumed could be evaluated. By putting Pansori into the records of gramophone as the subjects of appreciation, we could capture the new taste. Instead of giving up ‘watching’ and ‘accompanying,’ they could concentrate only on ‘advanced musicality’ only by listening and sensing Pansori as a music. Since then, popular LP record era far from the era of gramophone was started. Due to the changes of media, Pansori realized popularization of records in late 20th century, when was 1960s to 1990s for 30 to 40 years. Since the modern history of Pansori that LP records brought was significant though it was started from 50 to 60 years ago, we tried to summarize the data to confirm their aspects as much as possible. In this article, the list of LP records related to Pansori in 1960s to 1990s was summarized to review their characteristics based on the final 157 items. The earliest LP records of Pansori seem to be a series of ‘Folk Songs of Southern Provinces’ and ‘Choonhynagjeon and Shimchungjeon, a collection of Folk Songs of Southern Provinces’ recorded by Cho Wol Park, Gui He Park, Woo Hynag Sung, Nong Sun Han, and You Kyoung Shin in 1959. Since then, multiple masters recorded their songs to continue the records of complete version of Pansori and it was discontinued after 1990s, which is the history of its LP records. It was Cho Wol Park that showed the most frequently among the master singers who had recorded Pansori in LPs. She had performed actively recording not only in complete version of Pansori but also in the Korean traditional opera. She was active from 1960s when was the starting period of LP records to 1970s. Then, many performers recorded LPs including Woo Hynag Sung, Dong Jin Park, Bong Sool Park, Change Soon Sung, So He Kim, and so on. With respect to accompaniment, specialized Korean Music Orchestras in the recording companies participated in the accompaniment in 1960s. It seemed to intend to supplement accompaniment splendidly due to the features of recording LPs. On the other hand, a part of LPs in the times was reviewed by ‘Shimchungjeon, a Korean traditional opera’ produced by Daedo Records in 1968. It was known from Pansori in this record that it showed independency and improvisation and prepared unnecessary oral sound or articles to meet the time of records. LPs related to Pansori were spotlighted as the representative media that distributed Pansori in late 20th century. The master singers in the times had recorded the popular parts initially and then they expanded to complete version of Pansori in later parts.
