국문 초록

코로나팬데믹의 여파가 아직도 생채기를 남기고 있지만 2023년 5월, 한국 정부는 ENDEMIC을 선언하였다. 떠나지 못했던 여행과 이루어지지 못했던 만남들을 위한 분주한 일상의 발걸음이 빨라지고 있다. 2019년 12월 중국에서 처음 시작되어 세계로 확산된 지, 몇 년이 지나지 않았지만 코로나 이전과 이후로 명확하게 대비되는 다양한 흔적들을 남기고 있다. 종교를 포함한 다양한 측면에서의 사회적 성찰을 통한 새로운 모색이 필요한 시점이다. 세계화는 다른 어느 영역보다 종교 환경에 많은 영향을 미친 것으로 보인다. 세계화가 종교 환경의 변화에 미친 영향은 매우 복합적이다. 세계화로 인해 사람들은 서로 더 쉽게 소통하고 교류할 수 있도록 했으며, 이는 종교의 확산과 성장의 동인으로 이어졌다. 또한 세계화는 종교적 관용과 이해를 증가시키는 데도 기여했다. 반면에 종교적 갈등과 폭력의 증가로 이어지기도 한다. 세계화로 인해 많은 사람들은 서로 다른 종교와 문화에 노출되었고, 이는 편견과 적대감으로 인한 갈등의 원천이 되기도 한다. 또 세계화는 종교 간의 세력경쟁과 선교를 둘러싼 갈등으로 이어졌다. 이는 한정된 재화와 자원을 놓고 벌이는 각축과 다름없는 치열한 ‘경쟁’의 과정이었다. 이렇듯 세계화가 종교환경에 미친 영향은 단일 차원의 설명으로는 그 해답을 찾을 수 없는 복합적인 과정이라는 사실을 염두에 둘 필요가 있다. 현대인들의 삶의 근본적인 의미와 위안의 원천이던 종교적 가르침을 제도로서의 종교와 분리시키기 시작했으며, 이 경향은 삶의 가치를 개인이 직접 구현해야 한다는 개인주의적 세계관에 의해 강화되고 있다. 특히 영성이 개인들의 삶의 의미와 목적을 찾고, 힐링과 치유를 가능하게 할 수 있다는 측면에서 사람들이 더 만족스럽고 의미있는 삶을 살도록 도울 수 있다는 측면에서 주목과 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 이는 결과적으로 사회의 결속과 안정을 위해 기여한다는 측면에서 종교의 사회적 기능과 같다. 또한 포스트코로나시대에는 영성과 명상, 힐링, 치유와 같이 전통적인 종교방식을 넘어선 새로운 종교성이 등장하고 있다는 사실에 주목해야 한다. 이는 인간의 본성에 대한 근본적인 성찰로서의 마음에 대한 연구와 이어진다는 측면에서 이러한 논리들은 동양사상의 핵심 주제와의 만남을 자연스럽게 가능하게 한다.

영문 초록

In May 2023, the South Korean government declared ENDEMIC, although the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic still leaves a scratch. Busy daily steps for trips that could not be left and meetings that could not be achieved are accelerating. It has been less than a few years since it first started in China in December 2019 and spread around the world, but it has left various traces of clear contrast before and after COVID-19. It is time for a new search through social reflection in various aspects, including religion. Globalization seems to have affected the religious environment more than any other area. The impact of globalization on changes in the religious environment is very complex. Globalization has made it easier for people to communicate and interact with each other, which has led to the spread and growth of religion. Globalization has also contributed to increasing religious tolerance and understanding. On the other hand, it also leads to an increase in religious conflict and violence. Due to globalization, many people have been exposed to different religions and cultures, which also serve as a source of conflict due to prejudice and hostility. In addition, globalization has led to power competition among religions and conflicts over missionary work. This was a process of fierce “competition” that was tantamount to competition over limited goods and resources. As such, it is necessary to keep in mind that the impact of globalization on the religious environment is a complex process in which the answer cannot be found with a single level of explanation. Religious teaching, which was a source of comfort and the fundamental meaning of modern people's lives, has begun to be separated from religion as an institution, and this trend is reinforced by the individualistic worldview that the value of life should be realized directly. In particular, spirituality is attracting attention in that it can help people live a more satisfying and meaningful life in terms of finding the meaning and purpose of individuals' lives and enabling healing and healing. As a result, it is the same as the social function of religion in that it contributes to social solidarity and stability. It should also be noted that in the post-COVID era, new religions are emerging beyond traditional religious methods such as spirituality, meditation and healing. In terms of this leading to the study of the mind as a fundamental reflection on human nature, these logic naturally enables meeting with the core themes of Eastern thoughts.
