국문 초록

본 연구는 미지값 비례 과제의 해결 과정에서 필요로 하는 인지적 조작 활동을 분석한 것이다. 이는 비례 추론 분야에서 독립적으로 진행된 ‘비례 추론에서 수 구조의 특성’, ‘비례 추론 과제에 대한 수학적 분석’, 그리고 ‘조작과 스킴 관점에서 수 지식과 비례 추론의 관계’를 분석한 연구들을 종합하여 비례 추론을 분석하려는 시도이다. 이를 위해 다양한 수 구조를 갖는 비례 과제를 제시하고 이를 해결하는 과정에서 필요로 하는 인지적 조작에 대해 개념적 분석을 실시하였다. 개념적 분석 결과, 첫째, 수 구조별로 달랐던 학생들의 비례 추론은 해결 과정에서 필요로 하는 단위 조정 활동 및 단위 수준의 영향을 받았다. 둘째, 같은 수 구조일지라도 접근 방식에 따라 필요로 하는 인지적 조작이 달랐다. 셋째, 자연수에서 구성한 단위 조정 활동은 모든 수 구조에서 활용되었다. 넷째, 복잡해 보이는 비례 과제라 하더라도 분수 지식이 해결의 기저가 되었다. 이러한 결과는 수 구조와 관련된 비례 추론을 인지적 측면에서 설명하였고, 수 지식과 비례 추론의 관계를 수 구조의 특성과 연결하여 구체적으로 보였다는 의의를 갖는다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to analyze what and how cognitive operations are required in the process of solving missing-value proportion problems. This is an attempt to synthesize the following studies conduced independently in the field of proportional reasoning: ‘characteristics of number structures in proportional reasoning’, ‘mathematical analysis of proportional reasoning tasks’, and ‘relationships between numerical knowledge and proportional reasoning in terms of operations and schemes’. To this end, proportion problems with various number structures were presented, and a conceptual analysis was conducted from the researcher's point of view on the cognitive operations required in the process of solving it. As results of the conceptual analysis, first, units coordinating operations and unit levels required in the solution process differed by number structures. Second, even with the same number structure, different cognitive operations were required depending on the approach. Third, units coordinating operations constructed in whole numbers were utilized in all number structures. Fourth, fractional knowledge became the basis for solving in complex proportion problems. These results have the significance of explaining proportional reasoning related to number structures from a cognitive aspect, and showing specific relationships between proportional reasoning and numerical knowledge with the characteristics of number structures.
