『충효록』의 편찬과 가문의식

국문 초록

본고는 충효를 전면에 내세운 기록물이 한 가문에서 왜, 어떻게 등장하였는지 주목하면서가문구성원들의 가문의식 계승과 타자 인정의 확산에 주목하였다. 이를 위해 고흥 지역에 세거하였던 여산송씨 가문의 기록물인 『송씨충효록』을 살펴보았다. 여산송문의 가문의식은 임진왜란과 병자호란 기간 중에 순절한 송대립과 송침의 충절 행적에서 출발하였다. 국가에서는 두부자의 충효를 추증하고 정려를 하사하였다. 후손들은 선조의 ‘충효’ 활동을 자세히 밝히고 일기로 기록하는 방식으로 자신들의 충효를 실천하였다. 또 여산송문에서는 명사들의 글을 모아편집하여 『충효록』을 간행하였는데, 이는 선조를 현양하기 위한 목적과 함께 후손들이 충효의가문이라는 가문의식을 공유하며 계승하고 실천하기 위함이었다. 『충효록』의 간행과 배포 과정에서 공동의 가문의식은 10대손까지 확장되었고, 이로써 충효를 중심으로 한 문중의식이 형성되었다. 『충효록』에 수록할 문장을 요청하는 과정에서 여산송씨 가문은 고흥, 보성, 화순을 중심으로 한 호남 사림들은 물론이고, 경기와 호서지역의 서인 산림과 중앙 노론 관료들의 인정까지 받을 수 있었다. 이로써 조선시대 임진왜란의 주요 전장지에서 세거한 무반(武班) 집안의가문의식이 유업(儒業) 후손들에 의해서 어떻게 계승, 확산, 공유되었는지 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This study reviews what for and how the records showing loyalty and filial piety called Chunghyo in one family appeared and examines spreading of the members’ succession to the family consciousness and the recognition from others. For the purpose, the study notices the records of Yeosan Song Family who resided in Goheung, Honam where was the battlefield in the period of Imjin War. The family consciousness of Yeosan Song Family rooted from the loyalty of Song Dae-rip and Song Chim who sacrificed their lives during the Imjin War and the Byeongja Horan. The state showed great respect for them by giving them a posthumous award and bestowing Jeongryeo. Their descendants always thought of ‘loyalty and filial piety’ that had been handed down from their ancestors, and actively practiced in their daily lives. In addition, a huge tombstone engraved with the epitaph of an outstanding scholar was erected in front of the tomb, and the family academy called Seowon was established to create a differentiated space in the local community. They published 『Chunghyorok』 by collecting and editing the writings from their family members and well-known scholors from the parts of the country. 『Chunghyorok』 was published as a tribute of honor to the ancestors, but what is more important is that was for the descendants to practice and inherit in their daily life with the family consciousness of being a family member of loyalty and filial piety. In the process of publishing and distributing 『Choonghyorok』, the common family consciousness was extended to the 10th generation, which made it possible to create a family consciousness focused on loyalty and filial piety. In the process of requesting the sentences included in 『Chunghyorok』, the position of Yeosan Song Family as a loyal and filial family got consent and recognition from Sarim in Honam region centering around Goheung, Boseong, and Hwasun. In addition, the range was expanded by gaining recognition from Noron Sanrim in Gyeonggi and Hoseo regions and Seoin officials in the central. Through the reviews, the study found out how the family consciousness of loyalty and filial piety of the Muban Family, who lived in the main battlegrounds of the Imjin War in the Joseon Dynasty was shared and spread among the descendents of the family and the community.
