백석 문학의 탈주체화

국문 초록

이 글은 백석의 문학적 공간 내에 배치된 주체들이 겪는 탈주체화 과정을 대상으로 하여 이러한 새로운 주체성을 들뢰즈와 가타리의 소수 문학론의 관점에서 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 주체가 새로운 주체성으로 변용되는 이와 같은 양상은 당대 백석의 근대를 보는 시각을 새롭게 조망해볼 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 백석의 시 세계에서 나타나는 주체들의 성격은 근대의 주체 철학을 정면에서 반박하는 세계 인식을 보여주는데, 이처럼 근대적 주체가 소멸된 이후 나타나는 새로운 개체들은 기존에 선험적으로 부여된 근대적 공간에서 탈주함으로써 탈영토화를 달성하게 된다. 이것은 일본에 의해 계획되고 체계적으로 이행되었던 식민지 도시계획의 성과로 만들어진 한국의 근대적 시공간의 한계를 뛰어넘는 백석의 현실 인식을 보여주는 것이기도 하다. 즉 시인이 문학 작품을 통해 구현하고 있는 공간은 근대의 경직된 공간을 이탈하며 만들어진 재영토화 과정의 성과물이라 할 수 있다. 이상의 과정 끝에 마침내 형상화된 백석 고유의 문학적 공간은 비총체적이면서 매우 다양한, 무한한 생성의 장이 된다. 이러한 까닭에 백석 시의 주체들은 하나같이 주체와 객체 간의 위계적인 관계를 부정함으로써 보편적인 서정시의 문법을 따르지 않는다. 이들 주체는 인간과 비인간 물질 간의 경계를 자유롭게 횡단하면서 동등한 위치에 서 있게 된다. 한편 이러한 백석 문학의 ‘되기-생성’의 탈주체적 글쓰기는 해방 이후 백석의 동시나 동화시 창작 과정을 설명하는 데에도 유의미한 방법론으로 기능할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This article examines a new understanding of subjectivity as the reason behind Deleuze-Guattari's concept of “Minor Literature,” by examining the process of desubjectivization of subjects in the literary space of Baek-seok. The pattern through which a subject is transformed into a new subjectivity is particularly meaningful as it provides a new perspective into Baek-seok's view of the modern era. The characteristics of the subjects that appear in Baek-seok's poetry world show a perception that contradicts the philosophy of the modern subject. As such, new entities that appear after the disappearance of modern subjects achieve “Deterritorialization” by escaping from the modern space previously assigned. This process also shows the perception of Baek-seok's reality beyond the limits of modern Korean time and space that were a result of Japan's colonial urban planning. In other words, the space embodied by the poet through literary works can be said to be the result of the process of “Reterritorialization” created by leaving the rigid space of modern times. At the end of this process, Baek-seok's unique literary space becomes a non-total and very diverse space for the becoming of infinite subjects. For this reason, the subjects of Baek-seok’s poetry do not follow the grammar of universal lyric poetry by denying the hierarchical relationship between the subject and the object. These subjects stand in an equal position while freely crossing the boundary between humans and non-human materials. On the other hand, the desubjective writing in Baek-seok’s literature can function as a meaningful methodology for explaining Baek-seok’s simultaneous or fairy tale creation process after liberation.
