북한에서 출판된 전래동화집 『조선 옛이야기 그림책』의 유아 통일교육적 의미

국문 초록

본 연구는 북한에서 출판된 전래동화집 <조선 옛이야기 그림책> 48권 중 유아의 발달에 적합한 동화 40권에 나타난 문학적 요소와 통일교육적 요소를 분석하여 유아교육 현장에서의 통일교육 적용 방안을 고찰하는데 목적이 있다. <조선 옛이야기 그림책>에 나타난 문학적 요소와 통일교육적 요소 및 적용 방안을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 북한에서 출판된 전래동화집 <조선 옛이야기 그림책>은 문학적 요소 동화, 주제, 주인공 범주에서 남한의 전래동화와 큰 차이가 없으며, 통일교육적 요소 유아발달적합성, 민족공동체의식, 북한이해, 통일이해를 포함하고 있어 유아문학적인 면에서와 유아통일교육적인 면에서의 적용이 가능하다. 그러나 북한체제 특성으로 인해 유아문학으로서 적합하지 않은 표현은 유아의 발달 수준에 맞는 표현으로 수정하여 제시하거나 재구성하여 제시해야 한다. 본 연구는 유아통일교육에 대한 연구 및 자료 부족 등으로 통일교육이 활발히 이루어지지 않고 있는 현실에서 유아들이 좋아하는 동화, 특히 북한에서 출판된 동화를 활용한 통일교육 적용가능성을 제시한 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines the possibility of using fairy tales, published in North Korea, as unification texts in preschool education. So we analyse their literariness and unification-related factors, focused on the 40 fairy tales, which are proper to young children’s developmental stages, among the whole 48 series of “Chosun old story picture book.” The result of the analysis goes like this：first, there is no remarkable difference between typical South Korean fairy tales and North Korean ones in regard of their literariness, topics, and main characters. The North Korean fairy tales have potential in educating preschoolers on unification. Into the bargain, they are useful in growing sensitivity to literature, not to mention in promoting community spirit on the part of our children. That is because the North Korean fairy tales are suitable for unification education since they coincide with young children’s developmental stages. Still, we need to make minor changes of specific expressions, which are improper to our children. This study has implications in presenting potential application of North Korean fairy tales as unification texts. It is especially true when we consider that there is scanty of unification education due to the lack of materials or research on preschoolers’ unification education.
