우당 이회영과 단재 신채호의 아나키스트 활동

국문 초록

본 연구는 일생 동안 항일구국투쟁에 헌신하였던 독립운동가이자 혁명가인 우당(友堂) 이회영(1867-1932)과 단재(丹齋) 신채호(1880- 1936)의 아나키스트 활동에 주목하였다. 두 운동가가 중국으로 망명하기 직전의 시기로부터 1920년대 중후반까지 독립운동의 방략을 모색하고, 아나키스트로서 민중무력투쟁을 계획하고 실천했던 활동을 고찰하는 것이 연구의 목적이다. 1920년대는 두 운동가가 북경을 중심으로 아나키즘을 수용하고 의열투쟁과 민중직접혁명을 전개하였던 시기였다. 두 운동가는 상해 임시정부 수립과정에서 이승만을 중심으로 하는 외교독립론이나 실력양성론 등에 반대하고 무장투쟁을 통해 독립을 쟁취하고자 하는 반임정(反臨政) 노선을 걸었다. 그 이후로 북경에서 항일투쟁 방향과 구체적인 전략을 모색하는 과정에서 아나키즘을 수용하고, 유자명, 이을규, 이정규, 정화암 등 한인 아나키스트 동지들과 항일구국 투쟁활동을 함께 전개하였다. 의열단(義烈團다)이나 다물단(多勿團과)같은 투쟁조직의 결성을 지원하거나 운영을 지도하고 활동자금을 모금하는 등 적극적으로 참여하였다. 그 외에도 ‘재중국조선무정부주의자연맹(在中國’朝鮮無政府主義者聯盟)‘과 같은 아나키스트 단체들을 결성하여 암살, 폭탄투척 등 직접투쟁에도 관여하였다. 이회영과 신채호는 1905년 을사늑약 이후 일제에 대한 저항운동을 시작하였고, 국권을 상실한 이후로는 해외 독립운동 기지건설, 독립군 양성, 자금 모금 등 다양한 활동을 전개하였다. 특히 1920년대에는 시대적 상황에 대해 함께 고민하고, 항일투쟁 방략을 함께 논의하던 동지이자 동반자였다. 두 사람은 고난의 시대를 함께 하며 모든 것을 항일투쟁에 바친 혁명가였으며, 자유와 평등이 보장되는 사회, 차별과 배제가 없는 이상적인 사회를 꿈꾸었던 아나키스트들이었다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the anarchist movements of Woodang Lee Hoe-young and Danjae Shin Chae-ho, Korean independence activists and revolutionaries who dedicated their lives to the struggles against Japan to save Korea from its colonial occupation. It aims at investigating their independence movement strategies from the time just before their exile to China to the middle and late 1920s and making an inquiry into people’s armed campaigns planned and practiced by them as anarchists. In the 1920s, two activists based on Beijing accepted anarchism and developed patriotic struggles and a direct people’s revolution. In the course of establishing the Provisional Government of Korea in Shanghai, both activists took an anti-provisional government stance to achieve independence through armed struggles by opposing Syngman Rhee’s diplomatic independence or capability fostering theories. After that phase, they embraced anarchism while seeking for anti-Japan struggle directions and concrete strategies, and conducted campaigns against Japanese colonial rule to save Korea with other fellow Korean anarchists such as Ryu Ja-myeong, Lee Eul-gyu, Lee Jeong-gyu and Jeong Hwa-am. They actively formed such fighting organizations as Uiyeoldan and Damuldan, directed their operations and raised movement funds. Besides, they also involved in direct struggles of assassination and bomb throw by founding the anarchist body “Joseon Anarchist Association in China”. Lee Hoe-young and Shin Chae-ho started resistance campaigns against imperial Japan after Eulsa Unwilling Treaty of 1905 and after losing the national sovereignty, they carried out diverse activities such as establishing overseas independence movement bases, training an army for national independence and raising funds. Especially in the 1920s, they were comrades and companions who worried about the situations of the time and discussed struggle strategies against Japan together. They were revolutionaries devoting all they had to anti-Japanese campaigns under adverse circumstances and anarchists dreaming an ideal society without any discrimination and exclusion to guarantee freedom and equality.
