부산의 금융중심지 성장 방안에 대한 역사적 고찰

국문 초록

금융중심지의 생성과 발전 및 이동, 그리고 지속에는 역사적 공통점이 관찰된다. 본 연구에서 우리는Spufford(2006)의 금융중심지 생성, 이동, 지속으로 나타나는 일련의 과정에 대한 역사적 고찰에 따라 부산시가 금융중심지로 성장하는 방안에 대해 논한다. 유럽의 금융중심지 이동에서 찾을 수 있는 시사점은 첫째, 금융중심지의 생성, 지속, 이동은 산업구조의 변화와 더불어 지리적 위치에 의해서 결정되고, 둘째, 금융중심지의 이동은 기존 금융중심지와의 네트워크에 의해서 결정되며, 셋째, 금융중심지는 상기한 요소에 더해 정부의 정책으로부터 영향을 받는다는 점이다. 이러한 시사점을 바탕으로 부산이 금융중심지로 성장하고 지속하기위해 부산의 지리적 위치, 부‧울‧경 지역의 배후 산업, 그리고 부산을 중심으로 한 금융 네트워크 확장에 주목할필요가 있음을 제시한다. 또한, 부산이 국제 금융중심지로 발돋움하기 위한 다양한 방안을 정리하고, 특별히이들 방안에 대한 역사적 고찰을 논한다.

영문 초록

The rise, fall, and persistence of financial centers share historical parallels. In light of the steps that Spufford (2006) outlined as the creation, movement, and persistence of the centers, we investigate each of the aspects that have contributed to Busan's rise in importance as a financial hub. The following are implications that can be drawn from the European history: First, the geographic location and the nature of its neighboring in-dustries have an impact on the formation of the center. Second, the changes in the status of a city as a financial center are affected by its relations with other countries in the worldwide network. Moreover, the government's programs and policies also play a significant role. In addition, we suggest that in order for Busan and the rest of the Southeast Industrial Complex to maintain their position as global financial hubs, additional expansion of the financial network is essential. On the basis of these implications, the historical considerations of Busan's development as a global financial hub are discussed.
