국문 초록

오늘날 카지노기업이야말로 사회적 책임(CSR: corporate social responsibility)은 물론 책임도박(RG: responsible gambling)의 실천이 지속가능한 경영을 실현하기 위하여 필요하다. 그러나 그동안 CSR과 RG에 관한 연구는 카지노 종사원과 방문객에 국한되어 왔으며, 강원랜드 카지노 허가 시 중추적 역할을 담당한 주요 이해당사자인 지역주민의 입장에서 수행한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 또한, 강원랜드가 지속가능한 경영을 실현하기 위해서는 지역주민의 신뢰와 지지도가 중요하며, 이 두 개념은 카지노 개발로 인한 비용편익이 영향을 미치게 될 것이다. 이러한 측면에서 본 연구의 목적은 주요 이해당사자인 지역주민의 입장에서 카지노기업의 사회적 책임(CSR)과 책임도박(RG)이 지역주민의 신뢰와 지지도에 미치는 영향을 규명하고, 나아가 카지노 개발로 인한 혜택과 사회적 비용이 신뢰와 지지도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 태백과 정선군 지역주민을 대상으로 2015년 10월 30일부터 10월 31일까지 현지조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과 경제적, 법적 CSR과 보완적 RG는 지역주민의 신뢰에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 신뢰는 지역주민의 지지도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 카지노 개발로 인한 혜택은 신뢰와 지지도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치지만, 사회적 비용은 신뢰와 지지도에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론에서는 본 연구의 분석결과를 토대로 학술적, 실무적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Nowadays, implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and Responsible Gambling(RG) are necessary for a casino company to achieve sustainable operation. Although research on CSR and RG has been conducted on casino employees and visitors, little research has been conducted on the major stakeholding residents who played an important role in legalizing Kangwon Land Casino. Also, for Kangwon Land Casino to achieve sustainable operation, the trust and support of residents is important, and this is influenced by the benefits and costs resulting from casino development. In this respect, the purpose of this study is to examine the effects of CSR and RG on trust which in turn, influences residents’ support, and further investigate how benefits and costs affect trust and support. To this end, an onsite survey was conducted from October 30th to the 31st, 2015 on residents in Taebaek city and the Jeongseon district. The results of this study reveal that economic and legal CSRs were positively influenced by trust which in turn, had an effect on support. The results also indicate that benefits had a positive impact on trust and support, whereas costs had a negative effect on trust and support. Theoretical and practical implications were provided in the conclusion section.
