기업의 해외진출이 숙련프리미엄에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 기업-노동자 매칭자료인 「인적자본기업패널」을 활용하여, 기업의 해외 진출 여부가 노동자의 숙련 수준에 따른 임금 프리미엄에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 임금방정식을 이용한 실증분석 결과, 해외진출한 기업의 숙련프리미엄이 국내생산기업보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 하지만, 글로벌 금융위기 이전을 분석기간으로 했을 때는 해당 효과는 통계적 유의성을 확보하지 못했다. 나아가 본 연구에서는 보다 엄밀한 추정을 위해서는 유사한 특성을 가지는 기업들 사이에서 해외생산 여부에 따른 숙련프리미엄의 차이를 살펴보았다. 추가 분석의 결과는 기본 분석에서 추정한 해외생산의 숙련프리미엄 증가 효과가 과소 추정될 가능성이 있으며, 분석기간에 무관하게 해당 효과가 통계적 유의성을 가지고 있음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This study examines the effect of firm’s offshoring on the skill premium between the unskilled and the skilled using the HCCP data in 2006~14 that is an employee-employer matching data from Korea. To do so, this study estimates a wage equation including interaction terms between firm's offshoring and the skill level of each worker. Further, to estimate the offshoring effect on the skill premium by comparing similar firms, the study also estimates a wage equation that is combining with the logit equation for the offshoring decision of firms. The estimated results in the study show that the skill premium in offshoring firms is higher than that in non-offshoring firms. Particularly, this effect is statistically significant in the analysis for the post global financial crisis. Further, complementary analysis confirms this results and shows the offshoring enlarges the skill premium in any time span.
