국문 초록

본 논문은 트럼프 행정부의 대외전략과 이에 따른 군사력 강화가 동아시아 해양안보에 어떠한 영향을 미칠지에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 트럼프 대통령은 미국 우선주의와 힘을 통한 평화를 기조로 미국의 이익확보와 강력한 힘에 기반을 둔 국가안보를 실현하는 방향으로 대외정책을 실시하고 있다. 탈냉전기 미국의 해양전략은 미국의 패권을 유지하기 위해 공세적으로 변화하고 있으며, 트럼프 행정부의 대외전략 및 이의 동아시아에의 적용은 보다 강압적인 특징을 보이고 있다. 트럼프 행정부의 공세적 자세와 군사력 증강은 해양을 매개로 한 역내 미중경쟁을 촉진하고 해군분야에서의 군비경쟁 가능성을 높임으로써 동아시아해양안보의 불안정성을 더욱 강화시킬 것이다.

영문 초록

This study explores the influence of Trump Administration's foreign policy and following military development on East Asian maritime security. Based on "America First" and "Peace through Strength," President Donald Trump implements foreign policies to secure national interests and realize national security by strength. Given the evolving assertiveness of the US maritime strategy for the sake of sustaining the American hegemony in the post-Cold War era, the foreign strategy and its application to East Asia shows coercive characteristics. The administration's assertive posture and arms build-ups catalyze the intensification of the Sino-US competition through the medium of the maritime dimension and the possibility of the naval arms race between the two states in East Asia. In this context, it is possible to predict that regional maritime security will be influenced strongly by instability.
