여대생의 범죄두려움과 CPTED에 관한 연구

국문 초록

대학 내에서는 절도, 폭행, 성추행 등 다양한 범죄가 발생하며, 이러한 범죄로 인해 대학생은 범죄에 대한 두려움이 증가하고 있다. 최근에는 스토킹 범죄와 불법촬영카메라 범죄 등으로 인해 여자대학생의 범죄에 대한 두려움은 더욱 증대되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 여자대학생이 대학 내에서 느끼는 범죄두려움을 파악하고, 범죄두려움을 느끼는 장소를 대학 캠퍼스의 건물 내·외부의 구체적 장소와 함께 CPTED의 속성에 대한 만족도를 파악하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하고자 부산 및 대전광역시의 여자대학생을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여자대학생이 범죄 발생 두려움을 느끼는 캠퍼스 내부의 구체적 장소를 살펴본 결과 ‘화장실’이라는 공간에서 성폭력, 스토킹, 불법촬영카메라 관련 범죄 두려움이 압도적으로 높게 느끼는 것으로 나왔다. 둘째, 여자대학생이 범죄 발생 두려움을 느끼는 캠퍼스 외부 장소를 살펴본 결과 ‘녹지 공간 및 옥외지상 휴게 공간’에서 성폭력, 스토킹, 불법촬영카메라 관련 범죄 두려움을 느끼는 것으로 조사되었다. 셋째, 캠퍼스 건물 내부 또는 외부 CPTED 속성 만족도와 여자대학생의 범죄유형별 두려움 정도의 차이 검정 결과 스토킹 두려움 정도에서만 실내/외 CPTED 속성 만족도의 차이가 통계적으로 유의했다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 안전한 대학 캠퍼스 조성을 위한 정책적 제언을 하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The number of crimes such as theft, assault, and sexual assault are committed in University. According to various committed crime makes to increase fear of crime. Recently, the perception of fear of crime among female university students has increased rapidly given the numerous campus crimes such as stalking and illegal filming of hidden cameras incidents. Students’ fear of crime on campus is closely related to the physical features of the campus. The purpose of this study is to understand the satisfaction with the properties of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) along with the specific places inside and outside the university campus where they feel the fear of crime. This study explored the relationship between female students’ perception of fear of crime and interior/exterior site features on campuses such as lighting on paths, emergency phones, and CCTV devices. The study used self-report surveys of 104 students at a college in Busan and Daejeon. First, we checked specific places inside the campus where female university students felt fear of crime. As a result, it was found that the fear of sexual violence, stalking, and crimes related to hidden cameras was high in a 'restroom'. Second, we also checked places outside the campus where female university students felt fear of crime. As a result, it was revealed that they felt fear of crimes related to sexual violence, stalking, and hidden cameras in ‘green spaces and outdoor rest areas’. Third, we tested the difference between female students’ fear of crime and interior/exterior site CPTED features on university by crime type. As a result, a significant difference in satisfaction with interior/exterior CPTED features was only found for fear of stalking. This study has implications for planning and policy issues related to safe universities.
