국문 초록

아우구스티누스의『고백록』에 등장하는 렘마 “conversio”는 무엇보다 먼저 성자와 성령을 통해 인간을 향해 ‘돌아서 있는’ 성부의 자비로운 존재 방식을 의미한다. 오랜 방황끝에 ‘뒤늦게’ 하느님께 ‘돌아오는’ 아우구스티누스의 회심은 ‘언제나 이미’ 그를 당신께 ‘돌아서도록’ 부르시는 하느님 은총의 작용이었다. 이렇게 저자 개인의 역사 안에서 ‘부르심과 응답’의 상관성을 구성하면서 윤리적-영성적 차원으로 제시된 “conversio”는, 창조의 맥락 안에서는, 존재로 부르는 창조주와 그분께 ‘돌아섬’으로써 존재로 나오는 ‘영적 피조물’의 상관관계를 구성하면서 그것이 지닌 ‘존재-발생적인’ 의미를 개현하게 된다. 성령의 힘으로 성자를 통해 성부께로 즉시 돌아섬으로써 빛으로 형상화되는 천사들의 무시간적 창조과정은, ‘상승하는 사랑의 동력’으로, ‘진리로 조명된 인식’을 통해, ‘최상의 존재 척도’에 도달하도록 불린 인간 영혼이 시간성을 통해 시간의 창조주를 향해 종말론적 초월-지향으로 ‘돌아서도록’ 촉구한다. 삼위일체의 모상으로 창조된 인간 영혼이 삼위일체의 은총으로 자기 존재를 완성하여 마침내 이르게 되는 영원한 인식일의 평화가 우리 렘마의 궁극적 의미가 드러나는 장소이다.

영문 초록

The lemma conversio in St. Augustine’s Confessiones means first of all the merciful modus essendi of the Father ‘turning to’ His universe and to individuals in it through the Son and the Holy Spirit. The conversion of our author, who returned towards God late after a long period of ‘turning away(aversio)’ from Him, also is presented as the very work of divine grace, by which God was always already calling him to turn and return to Him. The conversio, that, constituting a correlation between this calling and response in Augustine’s personal history, is seen from an ethical and spiritual perspective, in meditation on Genesis, constituting the correlation of the Creator calling to being, i.e. to convert away from dark chaos towards the formation with the creatures coming into being by responding to His calling, comes to manifest its ‘onto-gonic’ meaning. The atemporal process of creation of the angels(caelum caeli) who were formed into the light by turning immediately to the Father through the Son in virtue of the Holy Spirit can be seen as a sign for the human soul, called to the Supreme Measure of being through the knowledge illuminated by the Truth with the power of the elevating Love, to turn towards the Creator of time according to the eschatological extensio. The peace and rest on the eternal Sabbath the human soul will someday reach to perfect its being created in the image of the Trinity by the same Trinitarian grace is the place where the ultimate meaning of our lemma is disclosed.
