부모의 비판적 미디어 리터러시가 청소년기 자녀의 비판적 미디어 리터러시에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구에서는 가정의 사회경제적 지위, 성별 등과 같은 인구통계학적 요인에 따른 부·모· 자녀의 비판적 미디어 리터러시 차이를 확인하고자 하였다. 또한 부·모의 비판적 미디어 리터러시가 청소년기 자녀의 비판적 미디어 리터러시에 미치는 영향력을 살펴보았다. 연구방법: 정보통신정책연구원의『한국미디어패널조사 2020』 자료를 이용하여 t검정, 상관분석 및 중다회귀분석을 수행하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 지역 간 비교 결과 정보검색, 미디어 내용 영역에서 부, 모, 자녀 모든 구성원의 리터러시가 시부 지역에서 더 높은 수준으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 자녀의 성별에 따른 비판적 미디어 리터러시 수준은 유의하지 않았고, 온라인 뉴스와 같은 뉴미디어를 이용하는 자녀의 정보 검색 및 미디어 메시지 비판적 미디어 리터러시 수준은 그렇지 않은 경우에 비해 더 높았다. 셋째, 부모의 학력 수준과 가구소득 수준은 부모의 비판적 미디어 리터러시 수준과는 일부 유의한 상관이 확인되었지만, 자녀의 비판적 미디어 리터러시와의 관계성은 유의하지 않았다. 넷째, 다중회귀분석 결과 부모의 비판적 미디어 리터러시와 자녀 연령은 자녀의 비판적 미디어 리터러시에 대한 주요 영향 요인으로 확인되었다. 학술적 기여: 성별, 가정배경은 비판적 미디어 리터러시에 유의한 효과성이 없었지만 부모의 비판적 미디어 리터러시는 결정적 영향 요인이라는 점에서 지역, 학교 변인과 함께 부모 변인을 종합적으로고려한 미디어 리터러시 교육의 필요성을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to identify the differences in Critical Media Literacy(CML) between father, mother, and children due to demographic background such as family socioeconomic status, gender, area using 『Korean Media Panel Survey 2020』. We also looked at the influence of parents CML on adolescent children. The main findings are as follows. First, the comparison of CML between urban and rural region showed that the CML of the father, mother, and adolescent child was higher in urban for the information retrieval and media content. Second, the level of CML was not different significantly by child s gender, and the level of information retrieval and media message CML of children using new media such as online news was higher than in other cases. Third, while parents educational background and household income levels have been identified to be partially related to their parents CML level, the relationship with their children s CML was not significant. Fourth, multiple regression analysis confirmed that parents CML and child age are the main factors on children s CML. However, the influence of the urban region was limited in only information retrieval. Based on the findings above, it was noted that academic performance or literacy is generally affected by gender, parental background, and household income, but in CML, these variables do not function as significant factors. Therefore, it is necessary to intervene in a different way from conventional literacy education. In addition, parents CML is a key factor in their children s CML, so media literacy education requires comprehensive consideration of parent factors along with school and local characteristics.
