중국 대학생의 중용적 사고와 개인 및 집단 창의성의 관계

국문 초록

개인과 집단을 둘러싼 문화는 창의성 발현에 영향을 미치는 주요한 환경적 원천이다. 이러한 관점 하에 본 연구에서는 중국 문화의 중심적 가치관 중 하나인 중용적 사고가 개인 및 집단 창의성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 특히 협력과 조화를 중시하는 중용적 사고는 개인보다는 집단 창의성에 보다 유익할 것이라고 가정하였다. 연구1(N=160)에서는 중용적 사고 검사와 개인 및 집단 창의성의 상관관계를 알아보고, 연구 2(N=208)에서는 중용적 사고 점화를 통해 중용적 사고가 개인 및 집단 창의성에 미치는 인과적 영향을 규명하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 중용적 사고 총점과 개인 및 집단 창의성 총점 간에 모두 정적 상관관계가 나타났다. 둘째, 중용적 사고점화는 개인 창의성 중 융통성, 독창성에서 점화집단과 비점화집단 간 차이를 일으켰다. 셋째, 집단 창의적 과정을 아이디어 생성과 아이디어 선정 두 단계로 구분하여 중용적 사고점화 효과를 알아본 결과, 두 단계 모두 집단 창의성에서 점화집단과 비점화집단 간 차이가 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과들을 종합하여 중용적 사고는 개인 및 집단 창의성에 유의한 영향을 미친다는 결론을 내렸다. 이후 연구의 의의와 향후 연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

The culture surrounding individuals and groups is an important environmental source influencing the emergence of creativity. According to this stance, this study investigated the effects of the Zhongyong thinking, one of Chinese central values, on individual and group creativity. In particular, this study hypothesized that the Zhongyong thinking, emphasizing cooperation and harmony, would be more beneficial for group creativity than for individuals. Study 1 (N=160) investigates the correlation between the Zhongyong thinking and individual and group creativity. Study 2 (N=208) intends to investigate the effect of Zhongyong thinking priming on individual and group creativity. The results show that, first, there is a positive correlation between the total score of the Zhongyong thinking and the total score of individual creativity and group creativity. Second, the Zhongyong thinking sparked a difference between the priming group and the non-priming group in flexibility and originality among individual creativity. Third, the group creative process was divided into two stages of idea generation and idea selection to investigate the effect of the Zhongyong thinking priming. As a result, the difference between the priming group and the non-priming group was found in both stages of group creativity. Combining these results, it was concluded that the Zhongyong thinking has a significant effect on individual and group creativity. Finally, the significance of the study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
