국문 초록

시간은 개인뿐만 아니라 기업에게도 중요한 요소이며, 관리에 따라 경쟁우위의 원천이 되고 궁극적으로성과에도 크게 영향을 미치는 사례를 현실에서 쉽게 찾아 볼 수 있다. 하지만 조직차원에서 시간관리특성에대해 학문적으로 살펴본 연구는 찾아보기 어렵다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Schriber & Guteck(1987)이 제시한시간관점에서의 조직업무처리 특성 중 스케줄 관리와 시간 엄수성에 초점을 맞춰, 이들이 팀 성과에 미치는영향을 논리적으로 분석하고 실증하는 것에 목적이 있다. 국내 149개 팀을 대상으로 분석한 결과, 시간관리 특성이 팀성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을확인했다. 이와 더불어 본 연구에서는 조직의 업무-비업무 시간경계가 명확할수록 스케줄 관리와 시간 엄수성이 팀성과에 미치는 영향을 강화하는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

Building on Schriber & Gutek’s time management framework and previous literature of organizational behavior, this article identifies sheduling and punctuality as two critical components of time management in the team activities, and examines their effects on team performance. Data from a multi-informant survey conducted in 149 teams show that a team’s behavioral characteristics of time management have significant effects on team performance. The results indicate that comprehensive scheduling and high degree of punctuality of time management have a positive relationship with team performance. This study also confirms that the effects of scheduling and punctuality on team performance are moderated by the team’s context for work and non-work balance. This study emphasizes the multidimensional nature of time management, and it helps to explain interteam discrepancies in profiting from managing time.
