[일반론문] 해방 전 김수영의 행적에 대하여

국문 초록

지금까지 나온 『김수영 평전』은 최하림의 것이 거의 유일하다. 하지만 이 평전에는 사실과 다르거나 근거 자료가 불충분한 부분이 상당수 있다. 최근의 연구 성과로 이러한 부분이 다소 보완되기는 하였다. 하지만 여전히 해방 전의 연극 활동에 대해서는 밝혀진 자료가 거의 없었다. 이번에 새로 발굴한 자료 「어머니를 찾아 북만(北滿)으로」는 이 부분을 보완할 수 있는 소중한 자료이다. 이 자료를 바탕으로 『김수영 평전』에서 부족했던 다음의 몇 가지 사항을 실증적으로 보완할 수 있었다. 첫째, 그 동기를 분명하게 알기는 어렵지만, 김수영은 도쿄에서 독일 신극에 관심을 기울였으며, 그와 관련된 무대 장치 화첩 같은 것을 구하기 위해 도쿄의 서적상을 샅샅이 뒤졌다. 둘째, 김수영이 도쿄에서 함세덕과 친분을 쌓았을 가능성이 있는데, 그가 <낙화암>(함세덕 작, 안영일 연출)의 조연출에 참여하게 된 중요한 계기가 이것이었을 수도 있다. 셋째, 1945년 2월에 공연된 <산하유정>(안영일 연출)을 준비하던 무렵보다 앞서서, <낙화암>이 초연되었던 6월 이전에 김수영은 안영일과 만났다. 넷째, <낙화암> 조연출을 할 당시에 김수영은 친일극 활동을 하고 있다는 자괴감에 시달리지 않았다. 오히려 어려운 상황에서도 연극을 한다는 자부심이 대단했다. 다섯째, 김수영은 부민관에서 연극 공연을 준비하다가 잠시 정신을 잃은 후에 지독한 절망감을 느낀다. 그 후 연극에 대한 열정이 시들해지자 어머니가 있는 만주로 떠났다. 여섯째, 김수영이 일본에서 돌아왔을 때 그의 어머니는 만주가 아니라 서울에 거주하고 있었다. 그리고 김수영은 어머니와 함께 만주로 간 것이 아니라 어머니를 찾아서 혼자 만주로 갔다.

영문 초록

So far, “Critical biography on Kim Su-young” by written Choi Ha-Rim is almost the only one of its kinds. However, there are many aspects in this review that are irrelevant of the facts or turn out to be lack of evidence. Recent research has somewhat complemented this vulnerable area. But there were still little data on the theatrical activities of pre-liberation. Th e newly discovered material, “Going to North-Manchuria in search of my mother,” is valuable for supplementing this area. Based on this data, we were able to empirically supplement some of the following things that had lacked in the “Critical biography on Kim Su-young” First, although it’s hard to know the motive clearly, Kim Su-young paid attention to the German new drama in Tokyo and scoured the bookstore in Tokyo to save something like a stage device album associated with it. Second, it is possible that Kim Su-young established a close relationship with Ham Se-deok in Tokyo, which may have been an important reason for him to participate in the supporting production of (written by Ham Se-deok, directed by Ahn Young-il). Th ird, Kim Su-young met Ahn Young-il before June, when premiered, ahead of the preparation of (directed by Ahn Youngil), which was performed in February 1945. Fourth, Kim Su-young did not suff er from the sense of shame that he was engaged in pro-Japanese activities when he was acting in a supporting role in . Rather, he had great pride in playing in diffi cult situations. Fifth, Kim Su-young feels terrible despair after losing consciousness for a while preparing for a play at the ‘Bumin-gwan’. Th en when his passion for the play waned, he left for Manchuria, where his mother was. Sixth, when Kim Su-young returned from Japan, his mother was living in Seoul, not Manchuria. And Kim Su-young did not go to Manchuria with his mother, but went to Manchuria alone in search of his mother.
