사회적 상황 중심의 노래활동을 통한 자폐아동의 언어표현 증진에 관한 사례연구

국문 초록

자폐아동들은 언어 및 의사소통에 결함을 공통적으로 보이는데 특히 문장을 이해하는 수용언어 면에서보다 일반적 상황에 적절하게 표현해야 하는 언어적 표현을 구사하는 데에 더 어려움을 겪는다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 수용할 수 있는 언어의 능력은 있으나 적절하게 표현하는 언어능력의 부족으로 의사소통에 어려움을 겪는 대상자들을 중심으로 노래 활동을 통해 언어표현 능력을 향상시키는데 그 목적을 두었다. 연구대상자는 중학생 자폐아동을 대상으로 일반학교 통합학급에 다니고 있는 아동들이 선정되었고, 선별 검사로 카프만 지능검사(K-ABC)와 아동기 자폐증 평정척도(CARS)를 이용하여 세 명의 남아를 선별하였다. 연구는 2단계로 나누어 이루어졌는데 첫 번째 단계는 1～12회기로, 사회적 상황을 이용한 노래활동을 배우는 기간으로 24곡의 곡을 가지고 활동하였다. 두 번째 단계는 13～15회기로 1단계에서 배웠던 24곡을 복습하였다. 총 15회기로 구성된 연구는 일주일에 2회씩 30분간 이루어졌다. 회기를 진행하기 일주일 전․후에 취학 전 아동의 수용언어 및 표현언어 검사도구(PRES)와 연구자가 개발한 표현언어 검사지를 통해 사전․사후 검사를 실시하여 언어표현 능력의 향상을 살펴보았고, 사후 검사 일주일 후에 표현언어 검사지를 통해 유지검사를 실시하여 향상된 언어표현 능력이 유지되는지를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과는 노래를 사용한 음악치료 활동이 자폐아동의 요구하기, 사회적 관습 이용하기, 거절․거부하기, 정보 제공하기 기술을 중심으로 언어표현 발생률을 증가시켜 세 아동의 언어 향상에 중요한 영향을 미쳤다. 노래 활동이 카프만 지능검사(K-ABC)에서 나타난 지능지수와, 취학전 아동의 수용언어와 표현언어(PRES)에서 나타난 언어 능력 및 아동기 자폐증 평정척도(CARS)에서 나타난 자폐의 정도에 따라 대상자간 습득도에 많은 차이를 보일 것으로 예상하였으나 검사결과 비교를 통하여 대상자들이 가지고 있었던 지능지수나 언어 능력, 자폐정도에 별 상관을 보이지 않고 비슷한 정도의 향상을 보이고 있음을 밝혀내었다. 또한 취학 전 아동의 수용언어 및 표현언어 발달척도(PRES) 검사 도구를 이용한 사전․사후 검사 결과의 비교를 통하여 음악치료 활동이 세 아동의 언어표현 능력뿐만 아니라, 수용언어 능력도 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과들은 노래 활동을 중심으로 한 음악치료 프로그램이 언어표현능력 향상의 치료적 효과를 보여준 것으로 노래가 자폐아동들에게 언어표현능력의 향상을 위해 유용한 치료적 수단으로 활용될 수 있음을 입증한 것이라 할 수 있다. 특히 본 연구에서 활용된 음악적 자료들은 연구자가 아동들의 능력에 따라 자폐 아동들이 일상적으로 많이 노출되는 사회적 상황에 맞춰 작사·작곡하여 사용되었으며 이는 아동의 언어표현능력 향상에 효과적으로 쓰였다. 앞으로도 언어표현 능력의 향상을 위해 대상자의 기능과 능력에 적합한 많은 곡들이 개발되길 기대한다.

영문 초록

Autistic children have difficulties in communication. They tend to have more difficulties in general expression than in understanding sentences. This thesis tested the effect of music activities on children who have difficulties in language expression. As a research method, a group of autistic middle school students was selected who were attending normal schools. Three male students were selected for the test of K-ABC and CARS. Music treatments on the selected students were applied fifteen times, twice a week, for thirty minutes every time. The total treatment process could be divided into two stages. The stage one included the first twelve treatments and the stage two included following three treatments. In the stage one, the selected autistic students learned twenty four musics under real-world-like social circumstances. In the stage two, the students repeatedly learned the twenty four musics. A week before beginning the music treatment, the students were tested by PRES and a test developed by the author of this thesis. And a week after all treatments were completed, the students were tested again with the same test method to check if the students expressive language ability got improved. The results of the research were as the following: First, the music treatment helped improve the autistic student s ability of expressing themselves such as requesting , rejecting , applying social customs and providing information . Second, the author of this thesis first had a hypothesis that the tested students might show different levels of achievements according to their intellectual ability or expressive language ability in K-ABC test, PRES and CARS. But it was not true. The student s level of achievement by music activities was proved not to have a significant correlation with their intellectual or expressive language abilities in the tests. Third, it was found that, through preand post-test of PRES, the music treatments could improve the receptive language ability as well as the expressive language ability. It saw great effect that musical data that utilize in specially this research investigator according to children s ability, autistic children write lyrics setting in social circumstance that is revealed much routinely and composes. To front, expect that suitable a lot of musics are developed in function and ability of subject person for elevation of expressive language ability.
