보수주의 측정과 관련한 대안적 모형에 대한 연구

국문 초록

기존 연구에서 나타난 보수주의 측정치들은 각각 측정오차가 존재할 가능성이 있으며, 또한 복잡하여 이해하기 어려운 점이 존재한다. 이 연구의 목적은 이렇게 복잡하고, 오류가능성이 존재하는 보수주의 측정치의 대안을 살펴보는 것이다. 대안적인 보수주의 측정치는 기업 경영자의 보수적인 비용 추정에 근거하여 고안되었으며, 구체적으로는 한 기업 경영자의 보수적인 비용 추정치가 동종 산업의 평균을 초과하는 경우 보수주의가 존재하는 것으로 보았다. 이러한 새로운 측정방법의 적정성을 확인하기 위하여 기존 연구의 가설을 검증하는 방법을 채택하였다. 가설검증 결과 기존의 보수주의 측정치와 새로운 측정치는 유사한 결과를 보였으며, 이는 새로운 보수주의 측정치의 등장 가능성을 의미하는 것으로 생각할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Accounting conservatism measures can be looked up from previous literature. Some measures seem to be complex, but others seem not to be fitted precisely. The purpose of this paper is to find alternative conservatism measure that is simple and easily understandable. The effectiveness of new measure is tested by comparing hypothesis test result of existing measures with that of new measure. New measure is designed by the conservatism of management s accounting estimation. When management s cost estimation of a firm is larger than that of similar group of industry, it is considered that accounting conservatism exists. The empirical test result of this paper shows that existing conservatism measures would not be different from new conservatism measure. It can be considered that the new measure is useful for measurement of accounting conservatism.
