국적 항공사의 효율성과 허브공항 효율성의 관계에 대한 연구

국문 초록

항공산업의 성장세로 인해 세계의 공항 및 항공사들의 경쟁은 어느 때보다 치열 해졌다. 본 연구는 이러한 경쟁 상황에서 세계 주요 허브공항의 변화 추이와 성과 를 평가하고 대표 국적 항공사의 효율성과 점유율이 이에 미치는 영향을 측정한다. 2006년부터 2015년까지 전 세계 30개 허브공항과 23개 대표 국적 항공사를 연 구대상으로 선정하여, 실증 분석에 사용하였다. 효율성 지수측정은 DEA-Solver Pro Ver. 15를 활용한 Super-SBM을 사용하였고, 허브공항의 효율성에 영향을 미치는 요인분석은 STATA 15를 이용한 부트스트랩 단절회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공항 효율성은 아시아 지역의 공항 평균 효율성 이 유럽 지역이나 북미 지역의 공항 효율성보다 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 항공사 운영 효율성은 북미 지역 항공사의 평균 효율성이 아시아 지역 항공사나 유럽 지역 항공 사의 평균 운영 효율성보다 높게 나타났다. 공항의 운영 효율성과 재정 효율성에 대한 결정요인 분석결과는 대표 국적 항공사 효율성은 정(+)의 영향을 미치지만, 거점 공항에서의 항공사 점유율은 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 그 외 세부 분석결과를 토대로 본 연구는 공항과 항공사의 경쟁력과 효율성을 향상시키 기 위한 학문적·정책적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Aviation industry’s growing trend is causing the competition between airports and airlines in the world to be more intensified than ever. This study evaluates the development of change in the world s leading hub airports and their performances and identifies the effects of dominant national airlines efficiency and share on them. A total of 30 global hub airports and 23 airlines representing nationality from 2006 to 2015 were selected as the objects of this study and used for an empirical analysis. Super-SBM utilizing DEA-Solver Pro Ver. was used to measure the efficiency index, and a bootstrap truncated regression using STATA 15 was conducted to analyze the factors that influenced the hub airports efficiency. The analysis results are as follows. First, the average efficiency of the airports in Asia was higher than that of the airports in Europe and North America. Second, the average operational efficiency of the airlines in North America was higher than that of the airlines in Asia and Europe. According to the analysis of determinants of the airlines operational and financial efficiencies, the efficiency of the airlines representing nationality had a positive effect while the share of the airlines in the hub airports had no effect. Based on other detailed analysis results, this study suggested academic and political implications to improve competitiveness and efficiency of airports and airlines.
