국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 2020년 코로나19 확산으로 인한 사회적 혼란 상황에서 처음 맞이한 추석 명절 경험과 향후 명절 문화 변화 전망을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 본인이나 배우자의 부모님 중 최소 한 분 이상 생존해 계시고 혼인 경험이 있는 만 20세 이상 55세 이하의 성인 1,100명을 대상으로, 2020년 11월 16일부터 23일까지 온라인 조사를 실시하였으며, 기술통계와 평균차이 검증을 이용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 코로나19 상황에서 맞이한 추석은 이전 추석과 다른 모습이었다. 떨어져 생활하는 부모님 방문이 감소하고 가족이 집에서 휴식을 취한 경우가 증가하였다. 떨어져 생활하는 가족과 함께 명절을 보낸 경우에도 방문 시기 및 기간 조정, 모임 규모 축소 등의 변화가 나타났다. 둘째, 그동안의 명절에 대한 경험은 성별 및 연령대별, 가족관련 특성에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 남성, 연령대가 높을수록, 본인이나 배우자 부모와의 관계에 만족할수록, 가족 내 의사소통 평등 정도가 높을수록 명절에 대한 인식과 경험이 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구참여자들은 차례 등 명절 문화의 간소화, 개인 중심의 시간 활용 증가 등과 같이 향후 명절 문화에 변화가 있을 것으로 전망하였다. 구체적인 변화 방향에 대한 응답은 연구참여자의 연령대별, 가족 관련 특성에 따라 상이하였다. 앞으로의 명절 문화가 긍정적인 방향으로 변화하기 위해서는 가족관계 강화와 민주적이고 평등한 가족문화 조성이 필요하며, 모든 가족구성원이 가족 간의 정을 느끼고 휴식을 경험할 수 있는 명절을 위한 가족서비스 제공이 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine 2020 Chuseok holiday experiences in the face of social confusion due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the prospect of changes in the culture of holidays such as Chuseok and New Year’s Day. An online survey was conducted with a sample of 1,100 adults between 20 and 55 years who had ever been married and had at least one parent or parent-in-law. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and one-way ANOVA tests. The results are as follows. First, the 2020 Chuseok holiday during the COVID-19 pandemic differed from previous Chuseok holidays. The number of visits to parents living apart decreased, and cases of families staying at home increased. Even when spending time with parents living apart, there were changes, such as adjusting the visit time and duration, and reducing the size of gatherings. Second, the experience of the holiday differed by gender, age, parent-adult child relationship satisfaction, and the degree of communication equality within the family. Being male and older, higher satisfaction with the relationship with the parents, and a higher level of communication equality within the family were associated with more positive perceptions and experiences of the holiday. Third, a significant number of the participants predicted that there would be changes in holiday culture. However, the responses to the specific directions of change differed by gender, age, and family relationship characteristics. For the change of the holiday culture to flow in a positive direction in the future, it is necessary to provide family services that strengthen parent-adult child relationships and make an effort to foster a democratic and gender-equal family culture.
