프랜차이즈 시스템에 관한 문헌 고찰 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 프랜차이즈 시스템의 역할과 장·단점에 대한 다양한 종류의 정의로 사용되는 추세를 알아보기 위한 것을 목적으로 한다. 프랜차이즈 시스템이란 본부와 가맹점이 계약을 맺고 본부는 가맹점에 일정 기간 특정 지역 내에서 자신들의 브랜드, 기업운영의 노하우(know-how) 등을 사용하게 하여 자사 제품을 판매할 수 있는 권한을 허가 해주는 대신 가맹점은 이에 대한 대가로 본부에 초기 가입비와 매출액에 대한 일정 비율의 로열티를 지급하는 유통형태를 말한다. 다시 말해, 초기 사업을 시작하는 본부와 가맹점이 해당 프랜차이즈 시스템의 역할과 장·단점을 정확히 파악하여 사업의 성과를 극대화하기 위한 사전 지식이 무엇보다도 중요하다. 연구방법은 국내에 발행된 프랜차이즈 시스템 관련 석·박사 논문 55편에 대한 문헌연구를 진행하였다. 연구결과는 프랜차이즈 시스템의 역할 및 기능으로 ‘판매권, 상호명, 상품, 디자인, 레이아웃, 경영관리 등 각종 노하우(15개/19.2%)’가, 프랜차이즈 시스템의 장·단점에서 본부의 장점은 ‘자기자본이 아닌 가맹점자본 이용 가능 및 자본조달이 용이(17개/17.7%)’가, 본부의 단점은 가맹점에 대한 일방적인 명령, 통제의 어려움(10개/11.8%)’이, 가맹점의 장점은 ‘경험이 없는 사람도 사업이 가능(16개/11.9%)’이, 가맹점의 단점은 본사의 경영방침 및 통제에 일방적으로 따라야 함(17개/15.9%)’이 각각 선정되었다. 프랜차이즈 시스템의 역할과 기능이 무엇인지 명확히 함으로써 다양한 연구 사례를 만들 것으로 사료된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to find out the trend of the franchise system being used as a definition of various kinds of roles and merits and demerits. The franchise system is the franchisor and the franchisee contract, and the franchisor gives the franchisee the authority to sell its own products by allowing the franchise to use their brand and know-how of business operation within a certain region and period of time. As a distribution type, a certain percentage of royalties are paid to the franchisor for initial subscription payment and sales. As for the research method, a literature study was conducted on 55 master’s and doctor’s dissertations related to the franchise system published in Korea. The research results show that the franchise system’s role and function is ‘Sales rights, trade names, product, design, layout, business management, etc. various know-how(15ea/ 19.2%)’. In terms of the merits and demerits of the franchise system, the merits of the franchisor is ‘Available to use the franchisee’s capital rather than its franchisor capital and easy to raise capital(17ea/17.7%)’, the demerits of the franchisor is ‘One-sided orders and difficulty in control for franchisee(10ea/11.8%)’, the merits of the franchisee is ‘Even inexperienced people can do business(16ea/11.9%)’, the demerits of the franchisee is ‘Must follow the management policy and control of the franchisor(17ea/15.9%)’. It is believed that various research cases will be made by clarifying the role and function of the franchise system.
