인류세 위기 시대의 글로벌 시민성 교육

국문 초록

글로벌 전염병의 대유행은 개인과 사회, 세계를 포함한 다양한 수준의 동시적인 변화를가져왔다. 전염병, 기후 변화, 생물 다양성의 손실 등 지구 생태학적 위기에 대한 인류세의이해는 인간과 자연의 관계에 대한 새로운 인식 체계, 사회적 행동과 규범을 확립하게 한다. 행성적 관점을 함양하는 글로벌 시민성 교육은 인류세 위기 시대의 인간중심적 관점으로인한 현재의 위기를 근본적으로 성찰하고, 인간의 행동에 규율을 부과하며, 인류 공동의행성적 책임을 인식하도록 하는데 기여할 수 있다. 본 연구는 인류세 용어의 출현과 그 특징을 간략하게 검토하였다. 그리고 인류세 시대에 요구되는 행성적 관점, 행성시민성에 대해논의하였다. 나아가 글로벌 시민성 교육에서 지구공동체, 생명공동체의 지속가능한 공생을모색하게 하는 행성적 관점의 도입과 활용가능성을 탐색해 보았다. 마지막으로 인류세 위기를 극복하기 위한 교육적 노력들, 한국 정부와 시도교육청 차원의 구체적 계획, 단위 학교차원의 교육 실천을 검토해보았다.

영문 초록

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought simultaneous transformation in various levels of human beings, including personal, social, and global ones. Anthropocene understanding of global ecological crises, such as epidemics, climate change, and biodiversity loss, establishes a new perceptual framework, social actions, and norms regarding the relationship between humans and nature. In other words, the perspective of a planetary citizen is pertinent to the sustainable existence of the earth community and the community of life. Global citizenship education can contribute to fundamentally reflecting upon the current crisis due to an anthropocentric perspective. The education further imposes self-disciplinary recognition on human behavior, recognizing the shared planetary responsibility of humanity. This study briefly reviews the emergence of the term Anthropocene and its characteristics. Then, it discusses the recurrent demands of planetary perspective and planetary citizenship during the Anthropocene era. Furthermore, the introduction and utilization of the planetary perspective to global citizenship education shall be explored throughout the study. This study finally reviews the educational efforts to overcome the Anthropocene crisis, especially of the Korean government, specific plans at the level of local education office, and educational practices at the individual school level.
