영문 초록

This study explores translation process and agents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in South Korea. Despite a growing interest in translation in institutional settings during the last decade, translation practice and process in national governments or supra governments remain under-researched. Based on a questionnaire analysis and interviews with translating agents, this study investigates translation agents and process with a case study of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea. It also analyses motivations and demotivations in a government translation service, employment patterns, qualifications, and job descriptions of translators/interpreters in the institution.
